Background: sciences, economics, and anything remotely collectible. Started online in 1982. Started first "blog" by current standards in 1987 ("Today's Mail" in the Coin/Stamp Forum of CompuServe). First Internet blog circa 1992 (in CompuServe's Ourworld pages).

Firm believer in facts as opposed to opinions, no matter how others might spin them.

Easily distracted by puns.

I do not react well to gameplaying with quotes.

Adages

Any sufficiently witty and clever remark will be attributed to Mark Twain, even if you thought of it yourself.

It is no coincidence that "gravitas" and "gravel" have so many letters in common. People admired for their "gravitas" frequently have many little stones.

If a country changes its currency, prices will all be rounded up and sizes of goods will all be rounded down.

A collector is anyone who has one of something, but would be perfectly happy to buy another one whether he needs it or not.

We have far too many "inspirational" books, and far too few "perspirational" ones.

Sometimes

Sometimes even editors who lock horns can show respect for each other. It works a lot better than name-calling and posts on others' talk pages like the proverbial gossips at the back fence.
