This is a list of islands in lakes (lake islands), which are one type of inland islands.
By size
- Manitoulin Island in Lake Huron, Canada - 2,766 km² (1,068 sq miles)
- Vozrozhdeniya Island in the Aral Sea, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan - 2,300 km² (888 sq miles). Became a peninsula in 2002 due to the shrinking of the sea, so no longer appears in rankings.
- René-Levasseur Island in the Manicouagan Reservoir, Quebec, Canada - 2,000 km² (780 sq miles)
- Soisalo between the lakes Kallavesi, Suvasvesi, Kermajärvi, Ruokovesi, Haukivesi and Unnukka, Finland - 1638 km². Some consider that Soisalo is not a real island because the lakes surrounding it are not on the same level. The greatest difference between the surrounding lakes is 6 m.
- Eastern Flevoland, 540 km² and Southern Flevoland, 430 km², are man-made polders of the now freshwater lake, Ijsselmeer, and are the largest man-made islands in the world
