Subrip is a Microsoft Windows optical character recognition program which rips DVD subtitles and their timings as a text file, and the name of the subtitle format used by this software. The format is now supported by several software video players.

The time format used is hours:minutes:seconds, with the seconds field precise to three decimal points. The decimal separator used is the comma, since the program was written in France, and the line break used is the standard Microsoft CR+LF. Subtitle numbers are indexed beginning at one.
