His first 3 films show his noviceness and ameaturity in acting. His third film tholiprema changed history. He has brought a new realistic style in acting which is not seen in many of his contemporaries. He isn't very cinematic and has evoloved since ''Tholi Prema'' . In tholiprema and thammudu, he plays a love-struck youth and thereby got closer to the majority of the audience, who could easily identify him with themselves. After Thammudu, tamil actor vijay remade the film into tamil with the name Badri(another of pawan's films) but with little sucess. Pawan had magic, which vijay lacked. In Pawan's, ''Badri'', he played the role of an arrogant young man(which he later stated that, the character resembled in real life). Though not a blockbuster like thammudu and toloprema, it kept the box-office ringing on his sheer strength. | His first 3 films show his noviceness and ameaturity in acting. Pawan Kalyan (September 2, 1971) is a popular Telugu actor and the younger brother of actor Chiranjeevi. Kalyan was born in Mogultur, Andhra Pradesh, India. He acted in many hit movies like Tholi Prema, Thammudu, Kushi and Suswagatham. He also directed a movie named Johnny, which is heavily influenced by Hollywood style. His next film is titled Bangaram and is slated to be released in March 2006.
The Birth of PAWAN:
His actual name is Kalyan babu.K, but after his display of martial arts and other skills in front of a huge crowd, his elder brother named him "Pawan"(the god of wind) Kalyan. Lord hanuman has been a favourite diety to Chiranjeevi(the name of lord hanuman), Kalyan's elder brother. So they named him with Lord Anjeneya's name. Success just couldn't help having Pawan Kalyan on its shoulders from then on.
His first 3 films show his noviceness and ameaturity in acting. His third film tholiprema changed history. He has brought a new realistic style in acting which is not seen in many of his contemporaries. He isn't very cinematic and has evoloved since Tholi Prema . In Pawan's, Badri, he played the role of an arrogant young man(which he later stated that, the character resembled in real life). Though not a blockbuster like thammudu and toloprema, it kept the box-office ringing on his sheer strength.
Birth of the POWER STAR:
he was aptly named power star after badri. Romour has it that it was Pawan who directed most part of the film, rather than Puri Jagannath. In came Kushi, Pawan handled the choreography of fights with consummate ease. His martial skills, dancing skills, acting prowess, good taking put the orginal kushi by tamil actor vijay (who later copied many of pawan's acting gestures, style and dressing in later films) to shame. The movie broke all the existing records. Even his elder brother Chiranjeevi(the leading actor in telugu)was in a position to give up the throne to his sibling.
Mistakes:
Instead of cashing on his success, Pawan has taken a 2 year break for the following reasons
1. A rumour that a gangster has warned him to stay out of the state after a land disput brawl.
2. To prepare his own script for hhis next film - johnny.
3. Lack of commonsense(which evn his hardcore fans would agree to).
Johnny was produced by Allu Arvind(Chiranjeevi's brother-in-law) and was one of the worst flops in the history of elugu songs. The reasons are given below -
1. The movie is too natural - Pawan Kalyan gets bashed up too often(which his fans couldn't digest).
2. Slow and passive taking.
3. Too sentimental.
4. Kalyan has deglamourized himself for the film by thinning up so much that he lost his charm.
Soft roles - another mistake:
Next after Johnny, Pawan scripted the story for Gudumba shankar and also acted in Balu. While Gudumba shanker showed an eccentric take it easy man, the fans couldn't just digest. They wanted more, they wanted the Sidhu Siddharth roy of Kushi who bashes everyone without a scratch on him. Gudumba has a lot of light humour which the fans were not ready to accept. They wanted blood. Balu, came next. Pawan Kalyan was not at all pleased with the concept that 50 dancers behind the lead actors could dance to the same synchronized steps and sing the same song(99% of Indian films are like this). His reason was that it was impossible in reality. Balu ran decently, better than Gudumba, but still lacked the energy from Pawan and lost the edge.
Post 2005:
The good news for Chiranjeevi-Kalyan fans is that, Pawan Kalyan has agreed to come in terms with the audience and will start entertaining them in the way they like. He signed 3 films slated to release in 2006. While the fans roared with delight, his rivals sweated. Is he gonna go to the distance? everone ask themselves.
Personal life:
Lives life in a very simple manner. Married his heroine in Badri and Johnny, Renu Desai. They have a son named Akiranand in 2004(?). He was named after Pawan Kalyan's idol, Akira Kurosawa.
