Jon Brower Minnoch (1941-1983) was the heaviest man ever (at his peak, however, 200 pounds lighter than Carol Yager, the heaviest woman). At his peak weight, he was around 1400 lb (635 kg). This figure was only calculated though due to the fact that he was too heavy and in such a bad condition to be able to be weighed.
He suffered from obesity since he was a child. At the age of 12, he weighed 178 kg (292 lb) and was 6 ft 1 in (1.85 m). His weight grew and grew until he was hospitalized in March 1978. He had accumulated too much water which caused congestive heart failure.
It took a dozen firemen and a specially modified stretcher to get him to the hospital. He was then put on two beds pushed together and it took 13 people to roll him over.
He was discharged from the hospital after two years on a diet. He weighed 216 kg (476 lb), the greatest weight loss by any human. However, he was readmitted to the hospital a year later because he had doubled his weight to 432 kg (952 lb). He died on September 10, 1983 at a weight of 362 kg (798 lb).
