Just saw your req for arb and think you did well to put it up. Was surprised and disappointed to see your (legitimate, in my view) concerns summarily dismissed. I was not so aware of your photography and your fairly extensive background in other parts of wiki. Just wanted to let you know that I followed up on some advice you gave another editor, ie to watch the movie ]. I should have seen it long ago, but it is excellent and still very timely, even though the constant barrage of suicide attacks against Israel have abated somewhat. I am guessing (and it is speculated) that it is the ] as well as the renowned Israeli intelligence. Yet as we speak attempts. Hope you are back since you have so very much to offer! Welcome back!

The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar
Welcome back! Also, thanks for the barnstar. I think you deserve one of these too, for this particularly kind and civil conversation with a new user. I came across that conversation in December, from looking at one of the pictures that he had posted, and was happy to see that someone had been civil to him, especially since he seemed to be in a difficult situation! Cheers, CordeliaNaismith (talk) 02:56, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

Hope that you won't let comments made by other users get under your skin...lots of editors are high school/college kids (I'm not so old myself :p), and in my humble opinion, it's not worth taking anything that's said on Misplaced Pages personally! And, yeah, it's especially hard not to get upset when editing Israel/Palestine conflict articles...for me also this is the part of Misplaced Pages where I am personally upset by some of the things that get posted on talk pages. (I haven't edited these articles myself, but my friend was trying to calm down some of the talk page conversations, so I was looking at some of the discussion on a couple of pages). But, although the talk pages are pretty contentious, the articles themselves mostly work out being quite good in my opinion, and it's really fascinating to me to see what is contentious and what different peoples' points of view are. A large number of people enjoy your beautiful photographs, and I hope that you decide to move past this whole unfortunate incident and keep improving the encyclopedia :-). Of course your user page is yours to do with what you like, but I liked it better when it had poetry on it :-) Here are links to two poemsthat I really love, I hope that you enjoy them too! Best wishes, CordeliaNaismith (talk) 02:56, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

Thank you very much! Maybe after your message my wish to take pictures will return :) The events of few last days were extremely hard on me, but not because of what other people said to me or about me, but because of what I said myself (you know what I am talking about), yet I'm trying to find something good in whatever has happened. I have found two generous and kind people, who I did not know before Avenue and YOU. I have rediscovered two other users Maedin and Franklin.vp anew. Before I knew Franklin.vp only as somebody, who opposes my FP nominations on most of the times :) and now I discovered a PERSON! And then My fair lady came to my side :) Yes, I liked my user page better like it was before, but right now I simply need to let it go, and it is my way of doing this. Thank you for sharing beautiful poems! I do not know so many poems in English, but here are some of my own. Some of them were written, when I was learning English. It seemed the easiest way to learn. Best wishes, and thank you for everything!--Mbz1 (talk) 04:14, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for sharing your very moving poems! I did not know that the poem from your user page is one that you wrote. I also like to write poems sometimes, but usually I am not brave enough to show them to anyone :-) I did post two here though. Best, CordeliaNaismith (talk) 05:17, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for allowing me to get to know yet another you! I did not know you write such beautiful poems, and that you care about politic. I'd like to share with you one more poem by K. Solarino please. It is about Green flash:
Green Flash

Stories are told,
By Sailors of old,
Who sought more than distant shore.
When looking asea
Alert ye be,
And by chance ye might see more.

At setting sun
When day is done,
While lanyards ye do lash.
Where sea meets sky
Keep watchful eye
For the Mystical Green Flash.

If luck be there
And it catch your stare,
Your fortune turns my mate.
Night sky is red
Smooth sail ahead,
A charmed life is your fate.

Sure as Neptune guides
The ocean tides,
Where his dolphins leap and splash.
Favorable days
Await those who gaze
'Pon the Mystical Green Flash.

Actually it is not just another poem, it is a poem that in a way brought me to Misplaced Pages. The first image of mine, which was uploaded to wikipedia was an image of green flash. It was not uploaded by me. It was published at Spaceweather.com and somebody from Misplaced Pages asked the permission to use it. I was so happy that my image will be used at Misplaced Pages! Back then I did not know Misplaced Pages could be edited by everybody. When I went to check out on my image, I realized that I could edit Misplaced Pages too, and here I am. Well, green flash of the setting sun is a sign of hope. I guess I have to look for one again.--Mbz1 (talk) 06:13, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for sharing the beautiful photo and poem! The photo is really spectacular. Also, I had never heard of a Green Flash before, so I was interested to learn about it. Best, CordeliaNaismith (talk) 15:10, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
Green flash is an amazing phenomenon. I've seen quite a few green flashes, but every time I am watching the setting sun in the anticipation to see that amazing green color, I'm feeling the same excitement as, when I saw it for the very first time. To see a green flash there should be a mirage present. Not all sunset mirages result in green flash. Sunset mirages are very beautiful on their own, yet a mirage with no green flash is as a story with no end. BTW, if you became interested in green flashes please take a look at Dr. Young's green flash pages. It is absolutely the best place to learn not only about green flashes, but about mirages too. Best wishes, and thank you for forgiving what I've said and for talking to me. Best wishes--Mbz1 (talk) 16:54, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

Yes, it's good to see you back! I hope you will feel like taking pictures again soon. In the meantime, looking through some of your pictures inspired me to take more myself, so you are still contributing indirectly. :) Of course, mine are not in the same league as many of yours, but I hope to get better.

About Jehochman's comment: I think what he meant was something like "If anybody is unwilling to drop it, raise your concerns with me and I'll try to help address them in other ways." There's nothing wrong with asking for clarification, as you have, but it might be better to do this on his talk page rather than letting it clutter up your arbitration request. -- Avenue (talk) 02:40, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Thank you, Avenue! I just looked over the images you have in the gallery at your Commons account, and really enjoyed them! Great scenery, amazing wildlife, flowers. Very good. We share the same interests. I saw you uploaded few images of volcano eruptions and an image from McMurdo Dry Valleys. I've been to McMurdo Dry Valleys, and what a trip it was! On that day the weather was so bad that we even could not think about flying helicopters (it was about 30 minutes flight from our icebreaker) The sky cleared up at around 1 a.m. and then helicopter operations began. It was January - Antarctic summer with the white nights in all their glory. I will never forget how we walked over the mystery of Antarctic Dry Valleys. Too bad I was using my film camera back then. BTW you've done a great work on killer whale article.

Thank you for explaining to me the meaning of Jehochman's comment. I took my question off the request.--Mbz1 (talk) 03:27, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks - I'm glad you enjoyed them. I feel dumb - I never noticed that "Gallery" button before, despite thinking a few times that something like that would be very useful. Thank you for alerting me to it.
I would love to go to Antarctica someday. The Dry Valleys sound amazing. I've been envious of some of your travels - you must have some fascinating stories to tell.
The killer whale improvements are very much a team effort, but thank you for the encouragement. You wouldn't happen to have any photos stashed away of killer whales eyeing up seals or sea lions, would you? At the moment we are just using a generic (if pretty) photo of a group of sea lions. -- Avenue (talk) 04:19, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
No, I have only an image of a killer whales with penguins, but it is already in the article. I might have a video of killer whales swimming next to an iceberg with penguins, that was filmed at the same time the image was taken. I believe the quality is not so good, the weather was rather bad, but, if you believe it might be useful, I will upload it. I have this image of a dead fur seal File:Giant petrel.jpg. He was killed by a killer whale at South Georgia Islands. The best, place to see killer whales hunting sea lions is Patagonia. I used to know the man, who was there and took great images. If I will find his info, I will ask him to release an image to be uploaded to commons. --Mbz1 (talk) 04:51, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
I just remembered an absolutely amazing video of killer whales I've watched. A killer whale picked up a baby sea lion, who was playing in a surf, and took it few meters out to the ocean. Then for some time the killer whale played with that poor baby, as it was a ball, and... brought the baby back to the very same place he picked it up. The baby was not hurt! Have you watched the video?--Mbz1 (talk) 05:04, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
I think I just watched that video a few days ago. The bit I'm thinking of is near the end of the 1993 Wolves of the Sea documentary, narrated by David Attenborough, although his commentary said more than one baby seal was taken and only the last one (which may not have been played with so roughly) was returned to the beach. It is fascinating to see a predator treat one of its prey so tenderly.
I suspect your orca/penguin/iceberg photo is more useful for the killer whale article than your video would be, so don't upload it on that account. (Of course, now I want to see it, but I get the impression you don't have it readily at hand, and your time is more important than my curiosity.)
That petrel shot is impressive! A shame it's so difficult to arrange to scan it properly. Did you see any pintails feeding on the carcass too? -- Avenue (talk) 09:10, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
"The Wolves of the Sea", that's right! I watched back in 2001. Hreat documentary.
Yes, the video is not ready, and I have no cable to connect the camera to the computer, but maybe one day I will upload it for you to see. I would have done much more for you than just uploading a video.
No, I have not seen Pintails, but I did see Skuas File:Skuas and Giant Petrel.jpg feeding on the same carcass. I do not scan the pictures. I even have no scanner. I take a picture of a print with my digital camera. That's why the quality is so bad.
BTW I saw you have a QI image, and one is getting promoted now. Do you know that you could create a category Category:Quality Images by Avenue? Please see example here. I've never done it for my own images, but it might be a good idea, and could be a stimulus for you to have more images in the category. May I please suggest to try this one File:Crater lake, White Island, 2004.jpg and this one File:Looking down the Franz Josef Glacier from above the Melchior Glacier.jpg for QI? This one File:Damp kea 2006-01-14.jpg could also pass in my opinion. If you'd like me to, I will work on the image in PS and mail a new version to you. I'll be really glad, if you allow me to do it. Please email me. --Mbz1 (talk) 16:17, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I recently discovered the QI system. I think a category would be overkill for 2 or 3 images, but maybe it will be useful later. I'm hoping at least a few of my old shots will qualify. I'm glad to hear you think some of them might be worthy - thanks! So far I have been taking it slow, partly because I was nervous, and partly because I don't want to flood the process with my nominations. I nominated one yesterday, and will nominate the White Island one today. I'll email you about the kea photo. -- Avenue (talk) 01:21, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
I'll wait for your email. Best wishes.--Mbz1 (talk) 03:30, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
I've sent a couple of messages to the address on your Comcast "Fog Shadow ..." page - hope that's the right one. -- Avenue (talk) 04:03, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
Responded the both of them. Thank you.--Mbz1 (talk) 05:23, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

Thank you, Theserialcomma. I've used it. There are plenty examples like these ones in the administrator's contributions, but as I said in the request such a language used even on a single occasion is one too many to remain an administrator. --Mbz1 (talk) 16:42, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

Glad

There was some concern about you, I was concerned. I suppose it's fair to say that we didn't see eye-to-eye but anyway that's life, just want to say glad you are ok. Take care, RomaC (talk) 09:25, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Thank you, RomaC. It is very nice of you!--Mbz1 (talk) 15:48, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Talkback

Hello, Mbz1. You have new messages at Jéské Couriano's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

Hope you are back

Just saw your req for arb and think you did well to put it up. Was surprised and disappointed to see your (legitimate, in my view) concerns summarily dismissed. I was not so aware of your photography and your fairly extensive background in other parts of wiki. Just wanted to let you know that I followed up on some advice you gave another editor, ie to watch the movie Paradise Now. I should have seen it long ago, but it is excellent and still very timely, even though the constant barrage of suicide attacks against Israel have abated somewhat. I am guessing (and it is speculated) that it is the West Bank barrier as well as the renowned Israeli intelligence. Yet as we speak still more attempts. Hope you are back since you have so very much to offer! Best regards, Stellarkid (talk) 06:41, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
