Jamuhar is a village in the Rohtas district of Bihar, India.

Geography & climate

Latitude 24°56’7.43”N Longitude 84°53.65”E

Geography: Jamuhar is very fertile flat land. It is drained by the Kai (Cow) river originating in the Kaimur Hills Valley.

Climate: Jamuhar is mildly cold in the winter (the lowest temperatures being around 5 to 10 degrees Celsius; 40 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit). Winter months are December and January. It is hot in the summer (with average highs around 35-40 Celsius; 95-105 Fahrenheit). April to mid June are the hot months. The monsoon months of June, July, August, and September see good rainfall. October & November and February & March have pleasant climate.

Etymology of the name

The name Jamuhar is derived from the words ‘‘Yam Har“ means "Yamdoot was defeated by Villagers". The phrase means villagers of this village were very strong and brave. The village was inhabited in medieval period.

History

Medieval

Late Loha Singh & Late Tara Singh left the Fatehpur-Sikari (UP) in the period of Mugal Empire Aurangjeb due to religious and theoretical reason. They are Shakrawar (Shikriwal) Rajput. They came with their family and followers on the bank of Kai (Cow) River in Shahabad district 9 KM east from Sahasram (Sasaram). There was a forrest near the Kaimur Hills. They were inhabited the village Jamuhar with the help of their family and followers.

Modern

The village gave many freedom-fighters to the nation. A most famous freedom fighter “Bramhachari Ji” takes shelter in this village in the Indian freedom movement. Some villagers were attached with British heads of this area for safety of nationalist. British Military couldn’t catch any villagers due to their secret plans. No one villager was sent to jail so they are not listed as freedom fighter in the free India.

NMCH is situated on the G.T. Road, 9 KM east from Sasaram near Village 'Jamuhar'. It has multistoried well equipped building. This makes a landmark of Rohtas District. After the recommendation of MCI for LOP for 2008-09 (total seats - 100) and Recognition; the college starts admission for first batch of MBBS courses from Oct. 08.

The First Comman Service Centre (eKiosk) of Rohtas District named SAHAJ Vasudha Kendra, Jamuhar is inaugurated in Jamuhar Village on 15 August 2008. The Information technology revolution will come to village through Vasudha Kendra. The V.L.E., Sahaj Vasudha Kendra, Mr. Kundan Singh Shakrawaria introduce villagers and young boys & girls to how they use the centre for their development and needful. The CSC is ready to help in e-governance facility to Bihar & Central Government. The centre is waiting to start Block information Centre, e-district plan and SWAN, which is in progress.

Under the National e-governance plan of Govt. of India, which was announced by Dr. Manmohan Singh, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on 15 August, 2005, Implementation of Common Service Centres (CSCs) is the most important event of the four pillars of the NeGP. These Common Services Centres (CSCs) will become Hubs or Community Centres for the delivering all e-governance and other services to the rural people. It helps Villagers in different areas:-

Now Computer Training is started with association of Institute of Professional Studies (IPS). The photography and photocopy facilities are also started.

Shri Gokul Singh and Shri Kedar Nath Pandey were served in Jamuhar High School and other Schools of Bihar. Shri Alok Pratap Singh - He is a faculty of a Management Institution in Delhi. Mr. Kr. Sailesh Singh (JRS, Varanasi), Mrs. Vijaya Singh (Delhi), Dr. Kumar Dharmendra Singh, Lecturer, J. J. College, Dehri-on-Sonr, Mr. Srikant Pandey and many other persons are working in the field of Education. Mr. Kundan Singh Shkrawaria is teaching computer(IT) to the villagers and running institutions also at Sasaram named Institute of Professional Studies (IPS)to make computer professionals in Rohtas District. • Administrative Jobs:- Shri Rajiv Kumar S/o Shri Sudarshan Singh was selected in IAS in 2002. Shri Badri Nath Pandey is serving for many years in the CID/Polish department of Bihar on different posts.

• Doctors:- Late Dr. Baneshwar Singh was best surgeon in the Rohtas District in their period. Dr. Chandra Shekhar Prasad Singh, Dr. Kumar Chitranjan Singh and Dr. Saroj Kumar Singh are serving in the field of Health Care of the people of Rohtas District and other places where they are posted. The NMCH is main health Care centre of Jamuhar and nearby villages. Dr. Md. Ikbal is very famous between villagers. Shri Ajay Prakash Gupta is National Speaker of DXN company who is world largest producer company of Mushroom based natural medicine products. Md. Roza, Md. Mehdi Husain, Shri Shanbhu Pd. Gupta, Shri Prabhaskar Pandey (Health workers) are also serving the villagers to got health care facilities at door steps.

• Engineers:- Late Shri Sunil Kumar Singh was very energetic engineer of this village. He was worked in Bihar Government Service and contributed in many development projects. Shri Manoj Kumar Singh, Shri Rajeev Singh,Shri Akhilesh Kumar Singh, Shri Kumar Narendra Singh are working in different area of the country. Jr. Engineers Late Jagnarayan sheth was very struggling person in the learning period. His Parents were very poor. Shri Nagdev Singh (JE) is also working under Bihar Govt.

• Lawyers:- Late Durga Prasad Singh, Late Bimaleshwar Singh were brilliant lawyer of Rohtas District. Shri Baliram Singh, Shri Om Prakash Singh, Shri Ajay Kumar Singh, Shri Ratnesh Kumar Singh are serving the peoples of the district at Sasaram Court.

• Artist:- Late Kedar Singh was a great artist who was worked in an unrealised film. Shri Rajkumar Prasad Gupta and Shri Ramashish Mahto are good directors. They are directed many Drama successfully. They are good actors also. Shri Jay Prakash Bhagat wrote a drama named “Jai Vijay”. Mr. Vinay Kumar Singh is best singer and artist of village Jamuhar.

• Politicians:- BJP- Shri Gopal Narayan Singh (Ex. Head of Bihar BJP), Shri Rajkumar Pd. Gupta, RJD- Shri Kumar Binod Singh, Shri Sudarshan Singh, Congress- Shri Manoj Kumar Singh. Many other persons are associated with different parties to develop the jamuhar panchayat, Bihar and the country.

Mr Sidharth Prakash(Manager RBI),Mamta Singh(Manager ECGI), Mr Rupak Kumar Singh(RM of SBI), Shri Dinbandhu Singh, Shri Kumar Vinay Singh, Shri Safulendra Pd. Gupta and many other persons are serving in the field of Insurance. Mr Pankaj Singh is UK returned Financial analyst who is working for a leading ERP solutions provider.

Chhath Pooja of Jamuhar

The goddess Savitri (Savita) / Gayatri / Chhath-Maiya (Mata) is the source of supreme power of all the Suns of the universe. The Chhath pooja is a holy festival celebrated on the sixth day of the lunar month after Diwali (Kartik Shasthi) every year.

This spiritual festival was originated in Bihar; the birth place of knowledge since Vedic period. Now this is the holy festival of people of many states and countries. The devotees offer salutations to visible Powerful God The Sun (Surya) of our solar system and his power source goddess Chhath Mata (Savitri; She provides health, wealth, Power and knowledge to devotees and their family).

The Chhath Pooja in Jamuhar is celebrated on the bank of Canal of Kai River and other Ponds (Talabs).

Temples in Jamuhar

The tample of Lord Shiva was made by all villagers. There is an old Shiv Ling (Budhwa Shiv Ji) also in the temple compound. The Kali Mandir is very old. There are many temples in the village.
