Kanye West is an American music producer and rapper from Chicago, Illinois. Previously best known for producing hit singles for Alicia Keys, Jay-Z, and Ludacris, he released a very successful hit solo album, The College Dropout, in 2004, getting major airplay with the first single "Through the Wire" which recounts his journey through the ranks of the industry and tragic car accident which left his jaw in pieces.
