Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||

Shortcuts
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Premiership of David Cameron (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Requesting indefinite semi-protection - High risk article about premiership of new British prime minister. Created this evening and already being vandalised. TheRetroGuy (talk) 20:26, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
- Declined There is some vandalism but, given the high profile and well watched nature of the article, not a lot. Let's wait a bit. --RegentsPark (talk) 20:45, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
Paul Daley (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
indefinite semi-protection vandalism has only just come off semi-protection hours ago and already vandalism is taking place, owing to this BLP subject being involved in a very controversial incident after a fight. Paralympiakos (talk) 20:23, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Not much vandalism as yet. --RegentsPark (talk) 20:42, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
I suppose this falls under the category of inevitability. I'll relist when it's more frequent then. Cheers anyway. Paralympiakos (talk) 20:49, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection vandalism, New temporary leader of the labour party attracting multiple unconfirmed vandal edit, please protect for a few days. . Off2riorob (talk) 20:09, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection vandalism, Persistent, continuous vandalism from many anonymous IPs. Mokele (talk) 19:53, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
- Declined At this time it seems to be a single IP. Suggest warning and then reporting to AIV if he/she continues. --RegentsPark (talk) 20:39, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
Arvanites (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-prot., banned user Deucalionite (talk · contribs) revert-warring with yet more dynamic IPs again, as so often during the last days, on one of his old ideological hotspot articles. Fut.Perf. ☼ 19:40, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Kumquat (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Trial semi protection for two months. Today I again noticed vandalism to this article. Vandalism is persistent and sourced strictly to anonymous IPs only. I suggest we trial two months of semi-protection to see if the pattern changes. --hydrox (talk) 19:35, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection.--RegentsPark (talk) 20:36, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
David Cameron (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary full protection vandalism, Assuming future events. Nothing yet confirmed in mainstream media. Melonite 19:30, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
- Comment. AFAIK you can not protect on pre-emptive grounds. --hydrox (talk) 19:35, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
- Declined Articles are not pre-emptively protected. Also, full protection at the time of breaking news is probably not a great idea. --RegentsPark (talk) 20:33, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

List of Wizards of Waverly Place episodes (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-Protection This page is frequently edited with addition of unsourced info, Especially on the show's current third season. I'm requesting semi-protection for at least 1 or 2 months. 18:52 QuasyBoy (talk) 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Cabinet of the United Kingdom/Current cabinet (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary full protection, Things are hotting up in Britain, the Prime Minister's just resigned and there are thousands of rumours flying round about the make-up of the new (coalition) Cabinet. IPs are already starting to add unverified info to this page; I think it should at least be semi-protected for 24hrs to keep everything calm. Thanks!. ╟─TreasuryTag►Regent─╢ 18:51, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
- Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. I see no evidence of registered editors vandalising, so I am only semi-protecting the article. I have done this for 1 week, as by then most positions in the new cabinet will have been officially announced. During the next week, autoconfirmed editors will be able to update the page when announcements are made. -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 19:09, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semiprotection request from Talk:Prime Minister of the United Kingdom: This page should be protected until the Queen's Speech, or whenever it has become official that Her Majesty has chosen a Prime Minister. Tim Pierce (talk) 18:46, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
- Semi-protected for a period of 1 day, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. As Brown has resigned, there will be an official announcement very soon. If there continues to be vandalism after 24 horus, please come back here for further protection. Incidently, the Queen does not choose a Prime Minister - as Mr Brown has resigned his position (and that of the Government), when Mr Cameron arrives at the Palace (he's on his way now), she will ask him if he can form a Government. If he was to say no, then she would ask Mr Clegg - although obviously, that's not going to happen! She does not choose the Prime Minister, the people of the United Kingdom do! (Sorry to be picky here!)-- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 19:04, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Current requests for unprotection
ShortcutsBefore posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page
ShortcutIdeally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

United States Marine Corps (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protect. High level of IP vandalism; seems to be one individual rotating from multiple IPs (including at least one that was blocked). The signature seems to be giant red "Fuck You!" across the top of the page. If you look at the page history, most edits in the last week have been this particular type of vandalism or reversion of it. This edit in particular spooks me: the vandal knew exactly how many characters to remove to keep this from flagging on people's watchlists due to addition or deletion of article file size (a block may be in order as well, since this vandal seems to know how this project works). bahamut0013deeds 10:59, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Gardner's Art Through the Ages (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary full protection repeated spam edits. Repeated problem edits are by established SPA/COI editor (see User_talk:Art4em), so semi-protection will not work in this instance. Adding details of this editor's published workbook is a work-around to keep the content in Misplaced Pages following deletion of the full article Drawing Upon Art: Workbook for Gardner's Art Through The Ages (LG Williams), by the same editor. Play On Tour (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection. People keep making edits that the tour has two different North American legs back to back, but no sources suggest that. I have asked users on the talk page to provide sources and they don't. This page was protected for this very reason last week and no one responded and provided sources. Now IPs keep adding it back. --Shadow (talk) 06:30, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

UFC 100 (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
indefinite semi-protection vandalism - This is more a request for discussion than an outright request for protection, but I would like to know what admin opinion is on locking the past UFC event pages. Currently, for those who don't know, Ultimate Fighting Championship holds a pay-per-view event on average every three or four weeks. Now, periodically, we see random acts of vandalism such as IPs inserting their own names in place of the actual fighters, or stupid changes such as the last one made to this page (UFC 100) replacing "punch" with "Falcon Punch!" Now my opinion on the pages is that they should be locked. As they are past events, no more information is going to come out about them. Once the event has finished, all that needs to be placed is the pay-per-view purchase figures and bonuses etc. Once these are done, there is no more information that is worthy of inclusion in these pages. Be that as it may, it seems pointless to me to leave them open to IPs attacks that may go unnoticed for a while due to clogged up watchlists.
I propose (if any admin has the patience to pick off (block) a couple of pages at a time) that we lock any pages for events that are older than a year (e.g. UFC 1 to 98 ish). Each page is easy to find; it's just "UFC" followed by a number and I think the last event from about 12 months ago was UFC 98, give or take. Sorry for the LONG rant, but I'm wondering what admin take on this is. Thanks. Paralympiakos (talk) 01:10, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. UFC 100, for instance, has only seen two instances of vandalism in the last two weeks. If other articles are more frequent targets, then repost them here & we can consider them on a case-to-case basis. Watchlisting is probably the best course of action. (Besides, no article should even be considered "complete" unless it is a FA, right?) caknuck ° needs to be running more often 04:23, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
