Earl Lloyd (born April 3, 1928) was the first African-American to play in the NBA, in the 1950 season. Three other blacks played in the same season, including Chuck Cooper. Lloyd played for the Washington Capitols. Earl Lloyd played his first game, against the Rochester RoyalsOn October 31, 1950 Lloyd, a member of the Washington Capitols, became the first African-American to playin a NBA game.
