Emmanuel Eboué (born June 4, 1983 in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire) is an Ivorian football player who currently plays for Arsenal as a defender. He predominantly plays at right fullback, but can also play as a centre back and even a defensive midfielder.
His first team were the Ivorian ASEC Abidjan, before he moved to K.S.K. Beveren in September 2002. He attracted interest, and eventually was signed by Arsenal, who purchased him on January 1, 2005, on a four-year contract for £1.54 million. Thanks to this move, he now joins fellow Ivory Coast international Kolo Touré at Highbury.
His debut came only days after signing from Beveren, in the FA Cup against Stoke City. Although not a regular first team player, Eboué's strong reserve performances stand him in good stead for more future first team chances. He scored his first goal for Arsenal in the club's 3-0 League Cup Third Round victory over Sunderland, on October 25, 2005.
