Marko Pomerants (born 24 September 1964 in Tamsalu, Lääne-Viru County, Estonia) is the Estonian Minister of the Interior and sits on the Government Security Committee in that capacity.
Career history
Pomerants began his political career in the Lääne-Viru County Environmental Department in 1994. A year later he moved on to become maavanem of the county for eight years. Entering national politics in 2003, Pomerants was the Estonian Minister of Social Affairs from 2003–2005 before becoming a full-time member of Riigikogu from 2005–2009. Pomerants assumed the mantle of Estonian Minister of the Interior on June 4, 2009 (2009-06-04).
