Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.
    Shortcuts

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

    Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection - More and more IP users keep adding un-sourced content, and removing sourced content. Reverting these unconstructive edits is getting to be a little tiring. --Blastmaster11 (talk) 02:50, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of 2 weeks, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Dabomb87 (talk) 04:27, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

List of Antenna TV affiliates (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection Various IP vandalism. Each IP is warned, some blocked. At least one week block, if possible. Msw1002 (talk) 02:40, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of 2 weeks, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Since I've protected the article, I don't see a pressing need to block the IPs. If they move on to other articles however, let me know. Dabomb87 (talk) 04:25, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

    Rafael Soriano (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary semi-protection, News of a pending deal, especially one with the New York Yankees, brings out IP's looking to make edits, though these are only reports and not a finalized deal. Muboshgu (talk) 02:23, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

Jamie Lynn Spears (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Indefinite semi and move protection Excessive violations of the BLP policy. Enough in this article. Tbhotch and C. 02:10, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of six months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. AlexiusHoratius 02:26, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

List of political parties in Afghanistan (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

semi-protection, The IP keeps on adding content which are not related to the article. A semi protection of the page will be helpful along with this template Template:Political parties in Afghanistan‎. It is not a content dispute, but a stubborn IP who will neither discuss nor give up on adding the name of an Arab political party which has no root in Afghanistan to the list. . Current requests for unprotection

    Shortcuts

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.==Current requests for edits to a protected page==

    Shortcut

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Indefinite semi-protection vandalism, Being a celebrity among children, this page is consistently and routinely defaced and unverifiable speculation about future movies (the majority of which are the fantasy of the child editor) is frequently added. List of current communist states (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Long term semi-protection. Not daily but disruptive enough. IPs are imposing fringe POVs. Especially one vandal IP last Sunday who prevailed because of the 3RR rule: North Korea isn't communist because it doesn't have the word communist in its name. Thankfully another IP didn't challenge my revert of: Germany is a communist country yesterday. Slightsmile (talk) 19:22, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection vandalism, Giver it another few days, Sock disruption again. The Resident Anthropologist (talk) 17:19, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Declined for now. It doesn't seem that active. Are there particularly problematic edits? SlimVirgin 19:40, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

    Libertarianism (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Unprotection, It has been fully protected for too long. Usually dispute protection lasts 3-8 days. Inka 06:02, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

There may be special circumstances behind this protection though; see the talk page. Have you consulted with the protecting admin, Amatulic (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · page moves · rights · RfA), before coming here? Dabomb87 (talk) 14:51, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
Unprotected. I've removed protection because it's been fully protected for nearly four months, and admins have been editing it. We can always restore it if problems emerge. SlimVirgin 21:45, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

    User:ResidentAnthropologist (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Unprotection, IP vandalism has hopefully been deterred. The Resident Anthropologist (talk) 17:49, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Done Syrthiss (talk) 17:52, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

South Island nationalism (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Unprotection, due to extended indef. full edit protect. Full edit protect was applied appropriately by an admin that has extensive history with this article. I requested that admin unprotect the article. Additionally, per a discussion on the talk page stating that Grutness might have a conflict regarding his frequent edits to the page, I asked Zscout370 to review the unprotect request (Grutness specifically mentioned Zscout on the article's talk page). Zscout370 deferred to Grut, and Grut deferred to other admins for unprotecting the article. As such, I'd greatly appreciate it if another admin could review the protection on this article, as I believe that continuing indef. full edit protect on this article could violate the third pillar. Thanks in advance!. --GnoworC 16:50, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Unprotected The original protection appears to be sound but it has been awhile and, or so it looks to me, that the problematic editor is no longer editing. Unprotecting. --RegentsPark (talk) 17:45, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

    David Zayas (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Unprotection, as remaining indef. full protection appears inadvertent due to this edit. I tried to contact the protecting admin but he hasn't responded yet. As such, I've moved it here since it is the protecting admin's own edit that makes me think the protection on this page is not intended. Thanks in advance!. --GnoworC 16:40, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Unprotected Looks like an error. Unprotected. --RegentsPark (talk) 17:35, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

    Marshawn Lynch (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protect. Following Lynch's game-winning touchdown last Sunday, this article is attracting unconstructive edits concerning the run. BrokenSphere 15:51, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. SlimVirgin 16:54, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Bambu rolling papers (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Indefinite semi-protection. This article is a long-term regular recipient of Sockpuppets and IP posters trying to post various promotional text without references. It has been happening for years. The latest change is minor but still alters what we editors have worked very hard to create (shortly after protection expired again). Please revert to Last true version and grant long term protection. The NYC IP posters are back. Nahome (talk) 20:12, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

Question: Can you give an example of the problematic edits? SlimVirgin 21:47, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
If you click on the history of the article you'll see what I mean. I'll revise the current one, and then wait for them to attack :(  Nahome  00:11, 13 January 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nahome (talkcontribs)
OK have another look at what they just did an hour ago. If you check the page history or talk page you'll see there is a LONG arduous history of IP editors from NY (the home of Bambu) and various sockpuppets making changes that benefit the brand. The page has been protected several times before, the sockpuppets have been blocked but each time the block expires they come right back at it, like they have now. Please revert the Sockpuppets and/or put the page protection up. I don't want to be the defacto guardian of that page. Have a look at it's history and log. There are too many IP's (sockpuppets really) now to try and reach consensus with them, let's keep edits to real users so we can keep the article clean and have calm discussions over facts instead of edit wars :)  Nahome  04:09, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
Hope you don't mind me moving this to the top, please forgive me but it was just reverted around 12 times in a row by those IP Sockpuppets. Please page protect.  Nahome  05:20, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
Semi-protected for a period of 3 weeks, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. I tend to patrol from the bottom up on this page, so moving it doesn't usually make much difference, though I guess it's not really a problem. :) GedUK  08:27, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
Thanks Ged, would you consider longer term protection though? If not we'll surely be back here in 3 weeks :(  Nahome  16:00, 13 January 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nahome (talkcontribs)
Is this not a content dispute, possibly involving a BLP violation? Nahome, your version has contained sentences such as, "Although the current brand owner claims that Bambú paper was established in 1764 ..." and (even worse) "Although the current brand owner tries to claim that the brand was established in 1764 ..." followed by some unclear references. The wording means Misplaced Pages is taking a position, implying that the current owner is lying or in some other way misleading people. That's among the material the anons were trying to remove. SlimVirgin 17:05, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
Looking around some more, I see this has been going on for a long time, with posts on the COI board, and you being advised by another admin to take the issue to mediation, Nahome. I'm therefore going to add full protection and ask on talk for an explanation of the anons' reverts, to see if the dispute can be resolved by simply reporting what the best sources say.
