lol.

Fine by me, 1/2, if you don't mind me being familiar: reading over your remarks.... "1/2"
sounds about right.

As for "vandalism": not my intent at all. It was, and is, an asinine statement. You reverted. OK.
No need to attempt to add salt to the non-wound.

Talkback tags are unnecessary; when I post on a page, I watch it, so you can respond either there or here.

hist rollback

I went to click hist in my watchlist and the screen jerked with the mouse over rollback as I clicked. There's no confirmation "Are you sure" with rollback. Sorry. Slightsmile (talk) 01:59, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

That would be 109. You caught my attention last summer when you were making puns with TT. Slightsmile (talk) 02:11, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
No this is my first account. Never edited before as an IP nor a user. No sock here, check my contribs - learning curve since February. I was surprised to get rollback today, nice recognition. I don't get it. I was here since February. How is it unusual I would notice things going on during the summer? Slightsmile (talk) 02:37, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion converted to PROD: GCube

Hello HalfShadow. I am just letting you know that I have converted the speedy deletion tag that you placed on GCube to a proposed deletion tag, because I do not believe CSD applies to the page in question. A7 does not apply to Software. Thank you. Tikiwont (talk) 14:08, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

Chase me dinosaurs

Regarding this, it turns out that the point the sock was trying to make is that there is a user on the French wikipedia (since 2005) named "Buggs". I'm assuming that could be someone's real surname. I've known people named "Bugg", though that's obviously not what inspired my user ID. ←Baseball Bugs carrots18:11, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

Edit Summaries

Please don't use insults in edit summaries .. I know sometimes it's clearly silliness you are reverting, but "rv inappropriate material" etc is less inflammatory and more descriptive. Edit summaries are not the place to address the poster (use his talk page) they are a place to describe what you are doing for the assistance of people looking at the history. An IP is unlikely to see your summary anyway.--Scott Mac 09:03, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

Sock puppet investigation?

You commented on some sock puppet issue here: User talk:Bongwarrior#I've suggested Misplaced Pages:Administrators' noticeboard for SP.

can you explain your edit here? These are declined unblock requests specific to the current block and should not be removed. Your edit summary was unclear on why you performed this action. Kuru (talk) 21:45, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

understood. my preference is not to have to dig through the edit logs when reviewing a block looking for actions that were removed; i presume that is why the restriction is there on the template. this one is a little grey in that there's unlikely to be any further review other than by arbcom.. thanks for the clarification. Deleting vandalism

10-4, I will try to keep that in mind for the future. In general, I don't delete stuff from established users' talk pages, unless it's way over the line (such as a BLP violation), as I figure it's up to the user to determine what to do with it, if anything. In the latest case, I likely would have zapped the second incarnation of that ape, if I had been watching. As it was, you beat me to it. ←Baseball Bugs carrots00:34, 22 November 2010 (UTC)

Aha, next time I will replace the vandalism with an equally witty and original comment rather than merely supplementing it. :) I saw there were some IP's getting into the act previously, but I've only noticed the two variants on your handle. Apparently the risk of collateral damage is too great, so says User:Elockid. I guess we will continue with manual intervention for now. But the last sock was whacked in three minutes flat, so we are running into a law of diminishing returns here: the payoff for him to continue the activity is not that high. --Diannaa 04:01, 22 November 2010 (UTC)

Regarding the RFPP, your talk page is NOT semi-protected, and the latest ID-iot was just created today. But it's your call as to what to do, if anything. ←Baseball Bugs carrots01:22, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

OK, I thought there was something fishy going on there, especially as the project page had nothing about it. If RL means "real life", then the internet term URL necessarily must mean "un-real life". ←Baseball Bugs carrots18:02, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

If there were a barnstar for knocking straight-lines out of the park, this would have been today's winner. :) ←Baseball Bugs carrots02:38, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

It may be that I can't resist a straight line either, but I still have some inhibitions, and you're just out there with it, without a net. Did you understand what I was hinting at in my followup about "something like cable"? ←Baseball Bugs carrots04:10, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
I had wanted to say something to the effect that what was being "fed to the troll" was "enough rope to hang himself". Which turned out to be the case. Anyway, cable and rope have some structural similarities, and that was the subtlety. When it comes to hangings, though, nothing beats good ol' fashioned piano wire. ←Baseball Bugs carrots04:19, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

Our mutual friend

I have placed a longer range block, following the arrival of another sock. Maybe it will help. You may like to keep your talk page semi-protected too, or try having it unprotected and see if the block works well enough. If it doesn't I may S-P my own talk page. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:02, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

Are you sure the earlier rangeblock didn't work? I'm not 100% certain that it wasn't just that it was imposed for only a very short time, so it stopped working. Anyway, unfortunately I think that the real solution has to be to wait for the person to get bored, but just making a bit more trouble for them might just make that time come a bit sooner, even if it doesn't stop them completely. JamesBWatson (talk) 08:10, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
I am pretty sure all of my range blocks expired as of yesterday. --Diannaa 17:17, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

Talk:Schapelle Corby...

Regarding your deletion of the content on Corby’s talk page, I completely agree with your sentiment. 100%. To describe further would require to break WP:CIVIL and risk giving further fuel to Kim Bax. However, I don’t think removing it is the best way to go. It stands as a good permanent record of the delusions of the writer. Let her direct people to it – they can see for themselves. Whereas if it’s removed, then there is no easily visible record – I think it reflects well on wikipedia, and poorly on on her. And, she’ll take it as more “censorship” and is thus fuel to her file. Please consider. Cheers --Merbabu (talk) 23:19, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

ha ha - no no no, up to you sir/madam! ;-) The more I think about it, the better it sounds - time for us to move on! I had no intention to revert, hence my comment here. whatever will be. cheers. --Merbabu (talk) 23:26, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

User:Elletsenior10

I've blocked them but felt like leaving a note for you too. Starting with level-4 warning right away is rarely justified, and I think I saw this not once with your AIV reports. What happens in practice is that potential vandals either get away or get away too easily because an admin has no justification for an indef block after one warning. Materialscientist (talk) 23:29, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

I use level-3 for scaring, for several reasons (it allows an admin to block or not block). There is a difference between IPs and users in this sense - AIV admins, on average, tend to block IPs for 24-31hrs and indef users, thus if a user has a not so short history of not so clear edits, one warning makes any admin doubt and often dismiss a valid report. Materialscientist (talk) 23:38, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
Just an observation - some AIV reporters have good reputation and high efficiency, partly because they don't assume and don't think much about that. It really saves time sometimes (what would he do if .., maybe he's not that bad .., maybe that page was wrong .. etc.). The mere fact that user ignored several valid warnings already helps admins. Summary

Could we try a different summary please? This one is a bit ambiguous. Prodego 00:51, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

It is, but since the 'troll' never commented on the thread, I wouldn't want people getting confused that anyone who commented there was the 'troll', myself included. Prodego 00:54, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Speaking of feeding the trolls

It was not necessary to link to a specific sock puppet, as the matter was resolved on a different sock puppet, not that one. Please, a closed matter can just be closed without any more troll food. --Kleopatra (talk) 01:02, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Just closing a resolved AN/I thread without calling extra attention to the troll is the best way to handle it. This troll is a long-term community banned user who got enough attention courtesy of the admin's ridiculous restoration and defense of it. --Kleopatra (talk) 01:09, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
Just read your edit summary that you're changing it. That's not necessary. I do hope you consider the source of the drama in the future though. This particular banned user thrives on attention and has posted hundreds of these comments against women all over wikipedia. Because wikipedia administrators are largely male, it can often be a problem getting this banned user's sock puppet edits removed, and it can sometimes be work even getting him/her blocked for posting them. Not always the case, but often enough. This was one of the most egregious supports of this banned user by an administrator that I have seen, the conversation thread and the restoration of the edit summary take the cake as far as what it's like being a woman editing wikipedia. I would simply like less hostile editors to consider what is going on. A troll is seeking attention, personal attention. How you give it to them is up to you; but, this one can get plenty without being personally named and linked to in as many places as possible. --Kleopatra (talk) 01:15, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Actually I just did an environment Canada for Prince George and the wind shows SSW 4 km/hr. Aren't chinooks very windy - so that's not a chinook, right? Also chinooks make it shirt sleave weather and while minus 8 is not bad, it's not quite shirt sleave.
