Song |
"Glam" is a song recorded by American pop singer Christina Aguilera. The song was written by Aguilera, Christopher Stewart and Claude Kelly, and produced by Tricky Stewart for Aguilera's sixth studio album, Bionic. The song was released on June 4, 2010.
"Glam" received mixed reviews from critics. Many noted its similarities to Madonna's "Vogue. The song was listed and advertised as 1st single from the album, but was replaced last minute by "Not Myself Tonight".
Background
The song was announced as the first single from the album to be released on February 24 but was put aside to be announced as 1st single other song: "Not Myself Tonight" in April. One of the composers of the song Claude Kelly ranked it as "the new Vogue", "as a song to listen when the girls are making up, before leaving". The song was produced by Tricky Stewart and is style urban pop.
Reception
The song received mixed reviews. Culture Bullys Chris Deline said that Glam is "a fun pop song, which seems to Physical for Olivia Newton-John". Kristen's MTV compared with the song "Vogue's Madonna, "but said" has many palms". Bill Lamb of About.com said Glam "sounds like a remake of the classic Madonna "Vogue" for a detached ice queen". Eric Henderson of Slant Magazine said the song is "a ball masks". Elysa Gardner of USA Today has welcomed the song saying that "Glam, she starts singing blankly before releasing a loud voice from shaking the earth a la Whitney Houston in its heyday". Since the blog Feminist Review said the song is "a modern version of Vogue, is cool and gay and reminds Sex and the City". The site Unreality Shout was more negative with the song, evaluating it with 1.5 out of 5 stars saying "A band optimistic, electronic or where Christina "get glamorous" and warns "Do not let the clothes you wear" (yes, I'm confused too.) Introducing a very catchy bass line, and the intro Love and Glamour is even more attractive. The pre-chorus builds tension and what should be a huge chorus, fails because the producer has just added a few clicks of your finger. The repetitive chorus "Let's glam" fails to impress and leave you wanting more, but after listen to five tracks prior to this, you are wise enough to know that will not happen". A positive review came from the blog Taste Like Caramel said that "Tricky and Xtina give us the version 2020 of Vogue, with a incredible beat".
