Sponge is a post-grunge rock band from Detroit, Michigan. The band was formed in 1991 and signed to Sony Records in 1993. In the late 80's/early 90's there was also a band in Dublin, Ireland called Sponge.
Notable singles by the band include "Plowed", "Molly (Sixteen Candles)", "Wax Ecstatic (To Sell Angelina)", and "Have You Seen Mary". Their most well-known album tracks, however, are the fan favorites "Polyanna" and "Silence Is Their Drug".
