Featured portal question
I saw you are the one that most often responds to portal questions so I thought I would just ask you. How long does a portal need to be receiving regular updates before it can be submitted as a featured portal? Portal:United States hadn't been updated for a while and I am in the process of updating it and have gotten positive results from several of the US related projects to submit content on a regular basis so within the next month or so we should have it set and be on a regular schedule. if you have any other advice for this portal that would be greatly appreciated as well. I think for the most part the portal is solid it just needs some updated content but I am rather new to portal stuff so Im not 100% sure of the requirements. --Kumioko (talk) 15:45, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks, I added a couple pictures and a ton of other things. I also tagged all 700 pages with the new United States Portal category that was created. Not 100% sure what you mean about statistics though. --Kumioko (talk) 03:48, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
- Got it thanks. I updated a bunch but I keep finding more (and probably will continue to do so for the next couple weeks. Please let me know if you have any more suggestions or feel free to make the changes yourself if you want. I'm not too proud to accept help. Cheers--Kumioko (talk) 04:04, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi, you don't need to worry about protecting images on ITN, because Template:In the news is cascade protected, so anything transcluded onto it (like images or templates) is automatically full protected, but is unprotected as soon as it's removed. Contents pages navigation proposal
A proposal to add topical links to all of the contents pages has been made. As part of that proposal, the navigation bar at the top of these contents pages would look like this.
- Overviews
- Outlines
- Lists
- Portals
- Glossaries
- Categories
- Vital articles
- Featured content
- Good articles
- Indices
- A–Z index
- Reference
- Culture
- Geography
- Health
- History
- Human activities
- Mathematics
- Nature
- People
- Philosophy
- Religion
- Society
- Technology
Please respond to the proposal, Portal talk:Contents#Adding topical links to contents pages navigational headers and footers, as you see fit. Regards, RichardF (talk) 15:28, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Creating accounts for students
Thanks! That was what I was looking for. I submitted a request via the request for permissions/account creator link you sent me. That is the right I was looking for. Disruptive Editing by Blake1960
Hi,
Blake1960 has been engaging in disruptive editing on Chevrolet Volt, Miles per gallon gasoline equivalent, and my talk page. He hasn't stepped over 3RR yet, but he is on the edge. I don't want to engage in an edit war, so I am stepping away from the battling. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Ebikeguy (talk) 06:35, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for your help. I hope he cools off. I should probably cool off too. Cheers, Ebikeguy (talk) 04:59, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
- He appears to be spooling up again, and I want to avoid involvement this time because I seem to be the main target of his wrath. His recent edits have involved yet another personal attack against me. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Ebikeguy (talk) 20:15, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

March 2011 GAN backlog elimination drive a week away
WikiProject Good Articles will be running a GAN backlog elimination drive for the entire month of March. The goal of this drive is to bring the number of outstanding Good Article nominations down to below 50. This will help editors in restoring confidence to the GAN process as well as actively improving, polishing, and rewarding good content. If you are interested in participating in the drive, please place your name here. Awards will be given out to those who review certain numbers of GANs as well as to those who review the most. On behalf of my co-coordinator Wizardman, we hope we can see you in March. MuZemike delivered by MuZebot 00:06, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
IRC invitation
Because I have noticed you commenting at the current RfC regarding Pending Changes, I wanted to invite you to the IRC channel for pending changes. If you are not customarily logged into the IRC, use this link. This under used resource can allow real time discussion at this particularly timely venture of the trial known as Pending Changes. Even if nothing can come from debating points there, at least this invitation is delivered with the best of intentions and good faith expectations. Kind regards. My76Strat 09:12, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:The Hong Kong Jockey Club.png
Thanks for uploading File:The Hong Kong Jockey Club.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude2 (talk) 06:10, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
semi-protection of Wall-Mart
Hi, in September 2010 you semi-protected the Wall-Mart article, which is fine by me. However, it means that nobody but administrators can move the article. As the official company name is Wallmart since 2008, there are several requests on the talk page for a switch move, so Wallmart becomes the main article address, while Wall-Mart becomes an alias reference. Currently it's the other way around.
Perhaps you could unprotect it, do the move and then re-protect it? I'm sure the regular editors then will clean it up accordingly.
Best regards, Thomas Blomberg (talk) 11:12, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
Wrong Walmart...
Hi again! Thanks for that re-direct. Unfortunately, it was the wrong one, because I made a mistake, which probably confused you. The old company name and the current article name is Wal-Mart (with one "l", not Wall-Mart with two, which I wrote). The article name should be Walmart (one "l" and without a hyphen), as that's how the company writes its name since 2008.
What confused things, is that my two misspellings (Wall-Mart and Wallmart) already exist as redirects to Wal-Mart, Obviously, the Wall-Mart redirect isn't semi-protected, as you pointed out, but Wal-Mart is.
So, if you could unprotect Wal-Mart and then move the article to Walmart (and then semi-protect it again, if you want), that would be great. If you let me know when it's done, I'll sort out the old redirects and change the beginning of the article to reflect the article name.

Toronto Pearson International Airport
I just added autoconfirmed pending changes protection to Toronto Pearson International Airport only to find you removed it nine days ago with the summary "no PC until things are settled." I guess I'm not sure what the specific issue that was needing to be settled was or if it has been. Either way, feel free to reverse my action if you feel it is necessary. Cheers, Tiptoety 19:14, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
- Hm, yes, but the poll also states "It can be removed from pages where it is causing problems, and added sparingly to pages where it has clear benefits. Seeing as I only added to the page for a month, I did not see my action as violating the results of the poll. That said, I'll just leave it as is. Tiptoety 00:47, 30 March 2011 (UTC)

Message You left on my talk page
Please explain to me how exactly trying to add a bit more information from a previously used source constitutes vandalism? Help for Portal:Bulgarian Empire
Greetings! I have seen on the talk page of WikiProject Portals that you are willing to provide assistance for Portals. I would like to help me a bit with a portal, if you have time and willingness.
I have created Portal:Bulgarian Empire long time ago and since I have no skills in making portals, I am sure it needs a lot of reworking in order to get a proper look... Can you take a look through it and improve whatever you find inappropriate or badly done and also improve the general layout and colours? Also, probably it would be better to add a "Selected biography" section, where I will move the biographies from "Selected article" and insert new ones. Regards, --Gligan (talk) 15:00, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for the quick answer. My problem, however, is that I just don't know how to do the things. I know that the box at the top is misplaced but I have no idea how to fix it. You can see, for example, that in the archive of the "Selected Articles" the second one is empty but when I tried to fill it there were problems...
- As for the other suggestions, I will make them up to 20 but there are simply not enough featured articles for all. And there is not a single featured picture too... Do you think that if I ask for a peer review someone will make all that? Usually the reviewer only says what has to be done but in this case I am unable to do it. Best, --Gligan (talk) 15:29, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you :) Best, --Gligan (talk) 15:48, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
Evidence?
You said I vandalized Misplaced Pages, so give the specific proof. Otherwise it's a slander. Qingprof (talk) 02:19, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
- Just so you know that I'm still waiting. Any accusations have to be accompanied by proofs. I believe this rule is obvious and simply enough. Qingprof (talk) 02:43, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
- FYI, Qingprof (rather prematurely) reported you for not responding at WP:AN. This is now at WP:ANI#Why am I accused of Vandalism? Nick-D (talk) 02:51, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
- I have a different opinion about defining my report as "premature". I believe that this particular user has already issued an invalid warning to me and committed an illegitimate action, because no proof is provided at the time of issuing that warning. It is common sense. No proof, no warning. Qingprof (talk) 03:07, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
