Killimer is a village in County Clare, Ireland. The village is located at the northern banks of the Shannon and the N67 is passing through the village. Killimer is best known for the ferry Killmer-Tarbert, part of the N67. The ferry is operated by Shannon Ferries.
According to the geographer Samuel Lewis the parish counted 3023 inhabitants in 1937. The Census 2006 returned 482 inhabitants for Killimer.
Easterly of the village is the coal-fired electricity generation station Moneypoint power station.
Killimer was once a independent parish. Nowadays it is merged into the parish of Kilrush. it is part of the Diocese of Killaloe.
GAA
Due to a declining population Killimer has no full Gaelic Athletic Association-club anymore. Most seniors now play with Kilrush GAA, only the youth-teams fly the flag of Killimer GAA. Despite the present decline Killimer GAA still can boast about winning the Clare Senior Football Championship in 1896.
