In early 2011, allegations of criminal fraud inside the Office of the College President unfolded that have resulted in the suspension without pay pending the outcome of a criminal investigation of President Peter Burnham of Colts Neck, Finance Director George Fehr of Red Bank and Athletics Director Frank Lawrence of Shrewsbury. Burnham and Fehr have since resigned, while Lawrence is still suspended. Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Howard Birdsall of Sea Girt and the Board's Attorney John Cantalupo of Colts Neck have also resigned from their posts. Executive Assistant to the President, Louise Horgan of Keyport is still on staff, despite having had an extramarital affair with Burnham that took place on the college grounds, as well as at a condominium located in nearby Tinton Falls, New Jersey. The criminal investigation is being conducted by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office. Despite these allegations every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, following a trial at which the defendant has of the trial rights guaranteed by the United State Constitution and State law.
