You're quoted

I was reading a copy of David Horvitz and Ed Steck's exhibit catalog Public Access and I noticed that he quotes you several times in the book. Nothing bad or embarrassing, but just thought you'd like to know. Kaldari (talk) 20:47, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Quotes me, as in myself the wikipedia user, or quotes the actual Bugs Bunny? Hopefully the latter! ←Baseball Bugs carrots21:07, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Was there a sketch of him, too? Then he'd have been drawn and quoted. PhGustaf (talk) 21:39, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Oh, the guy who kept uploading photos with him in every one of them? There's an old saying about names and faces and public places. ←Baseball Bugs carrots23:41, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
He actually has a couple pages completely devoted to giant pull-quotes from you. Apparently, you've very quotable :) Kaldari (talk) 00:26, 9 July 2011 (UTC)
Where would I find it? ←Baseball Bugs carrots03:49, 9 July 2011 (UTC)
Good question. You'd probably have to attend one of his exhibits in California. Kaldari (talk) 00:41, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
OK, so there are no online quotes, right? ←Baseball Bugs carrots01:18, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
As far as I know, no. He's distributing a short book at his exhibits (technically an "exhibit catalog" but expanded into book form). No idea if it will ever be more widely published. It basically chronicles the entire story of his interactions with Misplaced Pages in agonizing detail. It also reproduces in full all of the articles that he added photos to. The exhibit is as much about Misplaced Pages as his photos it seems. Kaldari (talk) 01:29, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
I can't imagine who would buy such a book. So he exploited wikipedia's "any moron can edit" philosophy in order to get his stupid image in wikipedia a lot. That says a lot more about him than it does about wikipedia. But he's likely too narcissistic to recognize that irony, and has probably never heard the expression, "Fools' names and fools' faces are often seen in public places." (That's a quote I do not expect him to glom onto.) ←Baseball Bugs carrots01:54, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
I am visiting several museums in San fransico, please tell me where I can find this exhibit. ^_^ AerobicFox (talk) 01:54, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

Ah, I should have said they were all art museums. Since I love art, and coming up is free museum day I am very excited. ^_^ Lemme know where he is so I can drop by and see what he quotes :P. AerobicFox (talk) 03:55, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

Baseball fights always look so wimpy. The best batter-charging-the-pitcher incident I've ever seen is Robin Ventura getting put into a headlock by Nolan Ryan, like he was roping and branding a calf. ←Baseball Bugs carrots09:08, 10 July 2011 (UTC)

Quiet Word

It isn't possible to have one on your talk page and I don't see email enabled. Do you have a suggestion? I am trying to avoid "pile-ons" from every imaginable perspective. Thanks Bielle (talk) 16:44, 9 July 2011 (UTC)

I don't know what I thought I read yesterday, but it isn't there today. Ignore my email. It was sent with the best of intentions, but I screwed up. Sorry about that, really sorry. You may exact a punishment. Bielle (talk) 01:28, 10 July 2011 (UTC)

No hay problema. I sent you another e-mail. No punishment needed. But if I were to mete out a punishment, I would condemn you to be a Cubs fan for the rest of your life. That'd learn ya. :) ←Baseball Bugs carrots09:06, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
A "CUBS fan"? .. zOMG .. that's almost as bad as having to be a Pirates fan ... lol. — Ched :  ?  11:40, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
For about 6 years (including the 1992 and 1993 seasons in the World Series), I had season's tickets to the Jays. Joe Carter: caught the final out in 1992 and hit that amazing home run in 1993. (I was at the stadium for that 1993 game, but I didn't see the Carter hit or any of his stroll around the bags except for the touch at second. Everyone in the stands was standing up and screaming and I was too short even in Row 30 behind the plate. I finally saw it when we got to the bar for the endless replays after the game.) Is that worse? Bielle (talk) 18:34, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
At least they won! I detect that your particular curse would be the Maple Leafs. :) ←Baseball Bugs carrots18:46, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
Somewhere around I have a "Croix de Candlestick" button, a prize awarded to anyone who sat through an extra-innings game through that park's noted chilliness. I forget exactly when, but my friend's accountant's front-row seats let me watch Frank Robinson glower from ten yards or so away. Man, he could glower.
I forget how much of that game I spent in the warm dry stadium club, admission to went with the tickets. PhGustaf (talk) 18:59, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
Frank Robinson managed the Giants during 1981-84, so presumably it was during that stretch. That's a prized possession, even if you did "cheat" by hanging out in the stadium club. : Robby was an intimidating presence, and it's just unfortunate that he generally got stuck managing such lousy teams. I recall a game against the White Sox while he was playing manager for Cleveland, probably in 1976. He was on the bench that day. He got into an argument with the home plate ump, and then put himself in as a pinch-hitter for the express purpose of arguing some more, up close. (He also got a base hit.) ←Baseball Bugs carrots19:26, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
PhGustaf, you are remembering the old, outdoor park, Exhibition Stadium, right on Lake Ontario. I've sat through snowfalls in opening week more than once. (P.S. And, that would have been "from 10 metres away" :-). Bielle (talk) 19:31, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
Nah, I'm remembering Candlestick Park, a stadium in the pleasant San Francisco Bay Area which has a famously hostile climate. Windy, foggy, rainy, chilly. Canadian tundra would be a break. PhGustaf (talk) 19:54, 10 July 2011 (UTC)
It's fair to say that neither of those venues was ideal for baseball. Toronto had to put up with it for 22 1/2 seasons. San Francisco had it for 50. Things could be worse. The Phillies were in Baker Bowl for 51 1/2 years, with denizens whose perennial second-division finishes were livened up by the occasional fire or deadly collapse of seating areas. (Livened up for the survivors, that is.) ←Baseball Bugs carrots20:06, 10 July 2011 (UTC)

Death of Caylee Anthony article -- thank you

Hey, Baseball Bugs. I just want to say thank you for taking an interest in this article, which has also been expressed by another editor at my talk page. Your opinions on this matter and presence there at the article has really helped, especially in regards to the few attacking me for being "too emotional" and as though I'm the problem at the article. I mean, seriously people can't feel passionately about an article they have significantly worked on? Aren't editors here encouraged to work on topics that interest them? Furthermore, I work on topics here that don't interest me much. But when I see a Misplaced Pages article that needs help, sometimes I jump to its aid.

Anyway, Blackie Lstreet has had his support, even in the face of very inappropriate edits, and it's nice to have a new editor of the article backing my valid additions to them and recognizing Blackie Lstreet's continued inappropriate editing. The discussion with Avanu at Misplaced Pages:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard#Casey Anthony trial combined with people at Misplaced Pages:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents ‎not taking action (and the accusation that I am basically some emotional idiot) almost made me quit Misplaced Pages yesterday. I suppose that would also be considered the action of a very emotional person, but I was very close to leaving for good. I'm sure that I still might. I need to rid myself of Misplaced Pages and get the other portion of my life back. Flyer22 (talk) 22:41, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

I could really use your help on this one, man. See this link for more information. Buffs (talk) 03:39, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

I know you aren't an admin, but you are quite well-versed in sockpuppetry and have proven quite adept in getting it curtailed. Thought you might have some input that would be useful.
I'm not sure what I've done to annoy this guy, but apparently I pissed in his Cheerios at some point and he's been bitter for over 3 years. Makes me wonder if TomPhan is this guy's brother? Buffs (talk) 21:32, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

Cryptograms and crosswords

Hi BB. Your namesake (the toon not the sport) was featured in the cryptogram that was in my paper today. That reminded me that I have had several crosswords with the clue "He bugs Bugs" or "Bugs bugs him". To this point they have always used the five letter word that begins with an "e". I hope that they acknowledge your work here one day by having the answer be a ten letter word that begins with "s" and ends with "t" and has three "p's" in it as well. I always appreciate your ability to sense these returning pests. Keep up the good work and cheers. MarnetteD | Talk 17:28, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

Thank you! With a capital "T" and that rhymes with "Z" and that stands for "Zap"! ←Baseball Bugs carrots18:16, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

FYI

Hi again. In case you aren't already aware of it HBO has I new sports documentary entitles "The Curious Case of Curt Flood" I just finished watching it and I found it to be fascinating and very well done. It is certainly thorough in showing all the strengths and weaknesses of the man. I thought you might find it interesting and if you don't have HBO it will probably be available on the web somewhere down the road. Two items of note. Bob Gibson looks like he is still in great shape and could pitch a couple strong innings today. It was fun to see the big sideburns that were in fashion in the early 70's (and which I sported in high school) again :-) MarnetteD | Talk 18:18, 16 July 2011 (UTC)

      • Nah, really not my cup of tea... FWIW, I'm told that it takes a fair amount of money to buy a domain name, host (this includes how much data they are allowed to store online) and setup a website. Without sponsors, they will die off eventually much like most WP clones out there, either that or they lose their core cadre of contributors/editors in the end. If there's one thing great about Misplaced Pages, its the diverse background of contributors/editors that it draws from, much like what the United States of America has its talent pool. And thats why or how, as far as I can see, Jimbo is able to continue getting sponsors to come aboard the WP bandwagon.

Circus?
