OK, I did stop. However he didn't need to be rude and personally attack me.--Katieh5584 (talk) 09:19, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

Vandalism work
Hi Katie, please don't leave WP just because someone said something rude about you! I've seen you around on huggle, and you do a lot of necessary anti-vandalism work; it looks like you just seem to make a few too many errors. If you're interested, I'd be happy to help you brush up on the what-to-revert-and-what-not-to-revert thing. The most important thing to remember, in my opinion, is that vandalism patrol, and Huggle in particular, is not a race. I know it can feel like that because everything is moving so fast and you feel like you have to quickly do something, anything, to fix every problem, but when I slip into that mindset is when I start making dumb mistakes that I'm embarrassed to see myself doing. One option for you, if you feel like maybe you're making too many mistakes, is to give Huggle a break and just do recent changes patrol by hand. That way you're interacting with the articles themselves, and you can easily check their history and see exactly what is going on, rather than just the one diff that Huggle automatically displays.
Anyway, that's just some thoughts from someone who's had her share of huggle-based "oh god, did I just do THAT?" moments. If you have any questions at all about vandal patrol, etc, please feel free to ask me here or on my talkpage. A fluffernutter is a sandwich! (talk) 16:42, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

- (talk page stalker)It's easy to get "burned out" doing the necessary work of vandal fighting. I seriously considered walking away from the project at one point - but instead went over to one of the sister projects and did some wikignome work over there fixing categories for a few weeks. Then, when I returned here, I was able to dive straight back into dealing with the spammers, vandals, and other disruptive editors.
- I guess my point is that sometimes, a wikibreak is quite beneficial to recharge the mental and emotional batteries. Rather than leaving the project, take a break from your regular routine for a while - either on a sister project, a totally unrelated site, or entirely off-line. Then when you feel ready, return to work on whatever areas of the wiki you find most rewarding. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 19:32, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

- Feel free to take a break; it's hard to deal with persistent, and sometimes misogynistic vandals when you're not an administrator, and we completely understand that. While anti-vandal bots and edit filters have helped, vandalism patrol is still necessary and remarkably thankless. That doesn't mean that you should feel a personal responsibility for defending the project or for fixing problems right away, that's a short path to burn-out. I encourage you to take as much time away from the project as you want and need. You're a volunteer, and nobody's holding you answerable for perfection. We all do the best we can in the time we care to donate. It's supposed to be fun. Anything you care to contribute is appreciated. Acroterion (talk) 20:19, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
