HMV is a chain of music shops in the United Kingdom and Canada. The name is short for His Master's Voice, the name of a record company. His Master's Voice record labels featured their famous logo, depicting a small black and white dog listening intently at the horn of a wind-up gramophone listening to his master's voice. The dog used as the model was a mixed breed with Jack Russell terrier named Nipper.
