Infoboxes

Infoboxes are reductive, evil things in arts related pages, and draw straight lines whereas the reality is richer, more complex, vital and interesting A box promises to contain, and things that can't be neatly contained can't be put in boxes. A box suggests "this is the real deal," and if the real deal could be put in a box, then there would be no need for articles. A box says, "Here is your PowerPoint bullet point list, so you can find all the world reduced to a reductive summary; please do not strive to understand complexity, for that is for suckers." A box says, "Misplaced Pages is just like your primary school text book: full of colors and 'bites' of infotainment." A box says, "I, the box maker, have just pissed all over this article and written a counter-article, and it's short, so read it instead." A box may be found useful by some people, indeed. Well as a paddy I'll agree re Boston, any potatoes we get from DC tend to be sub prime, at best. Worm and black things, and they are not at all fluffy. We just had a presedential campain where one of the candiates, whoes name is "Gay" (no actually) and who feeds off the supposed political capital of his late brother was described as 'the evil of two lessers'. I would'nt worry you pretty little head about the other two versions. Meanwhile back on planet earth, any good tunes to share. I was never a big Polly harvey fan after her early eps and first album, but Let England Shake is amazing, very haunting and highly recommended. I can understand that; but listen to how funky the guitar is, the range of his voice, and how tightly produced the sound is. Bal des Ardents

Thanks for the copyedits and yes a crop would be nice. I prefer the image (File:Fire carles6.jpg) that's not in the lead but it's darker so I didn't use it. In that one the king can clearly be seen under the duchess' skirt and the man in the winevat is shown more clearly. Am still looking for a higher res version; can't remember where I found it. A I dont see any reason why I might get blocked. There is a move on you obviously, well not you, but the cogs of a larger campain got entangled in the wheels of editors who have clue. If it was brought wider attention in would be quickly culled, I'm fairly sure, but these people tend to quietly run amock, while their reaction to incumbants is just shocking. The millions of articles cmt made by whatever his name is made my blood run cold and reminded me of the dark 97/98 days of Durova and Kelly Martin and the Giano/George wars against stupidity. "We know better." I just want to let it pass as I'm sure you do, but cant help pointing out the self-serving and misguided stupidity behind the anti logic. If that makes sence. The unfortunate thing is that we are bound by CIV and although you are the only person who cares and tends to the Hemingway articles, you have to waste your time and bending to the energy of tossers. I took AP art history in HS. Used to have little squabbles with my teacher all the time. Good natured though. He was artistic and I a gear head. But...got the exposure anyway. Still remember reading Janson and then "darkness at noon" (slide shows after lunch...deadly!) Dr. Ray used to always say that it's wrong for someone uneducated to make judgments on art. "I don't know art, but I know what I like". Ray said that when you learn more, you can appreciate more (like watching football and fathoming more if you've played it). That said, it is probably a pretty reasonable first response in terms of an artwork to just try to experience it and say if you like it.

The Rodin sculpture is incredibly noteworthy, so it is nothing special to be familar with it. I used to give Ray a hard time for Mondrian (Partridge Family bus) and Jackson Pollack and the like (anti modern). He was intrigued that I liked Rodin and tried to convince me that it was modern too. But it seems so representational to me. Plus it is just a killer pose. And even the title helps it, really.TCO (talk) 02:40, 26 November 2011 (UTC)

Dude, I'm very tired and feeling old tonight, and after a rough week at work. This is nice chat and I envy that you had an art history education and would like to continue the discussion in a day or two. One parting cmt; your first post on talk:fac got me on my latest project, on a movement/grouping and not just a pic. I used to do larger pages once upon a time Punk Rock, WB Yeats, Joy Division, and some bios. But my paint articles have been for the most part on fairly big block buster pics eg Las Meninas.
