Moonbaby is the debut Studio album of Siobhan Magnus, scheduled for digital release on January 1, 2012. Prior to release, two singles (Beatrice Dream, May 1 and Black Doll, October 3 2011) were digitally released. 1,000 pre-release signed copies were made available through her official website only in December 2011. The album was originally announced for release on October 31 2011 (Halloween) but was postponed after interest from a major label. The album was eventually released on Snotface records, after being recorded with Pacific International Music, based in Nashville and was produced by Michael Flanders, who also co-wrote 5 of the album's 10 original songs.
Prior to the announcement of Moonbaby, but after the end of the American Idol 9 tour, Siobhan returned to her Alternative Rock band Lunar Valve, and recorded a 3-track EP which was released in February.
6 new Moonbaby teasers (not including the Black Doll teaser) were released on December 5 2011 to SoundCloud. This meant that there were only two songs (Little Blue Pill and Always Thinking) that fans were not able to sample or download prior to release. There is also a cover of Prince-Penned Sinéad O'Connor hit, Nothing Compares 2 U as a bonus track on the end of the album. It is unknown as of yet if this is only on the 1,000 pre-release copies, or on the final album.
The Art and packaging were designed by Magnus herself and Tony Raine. The CD art is of the Lunar phase.

Black Doll is a song inspired by Edward Gorey, a big influence on Magnus' work. The Youtube video gained 30,000 views in just two months.
