Michael Ray Nguyen-Stevenson (born November 19, 1989), better known by his stage name Tyga (an acronym for Thank You God Always), is an American rapper signed to Young Money Entertainment, Cash Money Records and Universal Republic Records. He is of Vietnamese and Jamaican descent. He first received recognition with his debut single "Coconut Juice", featuring his cousin Travie McCoy.

Biography and Career

Tyga, born Michael Stevenson, grew up in Compton, California. He is of Jamaican and Vietnamese origin, and is the cousin of Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes (Tyga's mother and Travis McCoy's father are siblings).

In early 2007, he released his first mixtape "Young On Probation". He also participated in events of Get Wett! Entertainment in Los Angeles. On June 10, 2008 he released his first album, "No Introduction", on Decaydance Records and Young Money Entertainment. In 2009, he appeared on "Wife Beater", "Bedrock", "Roger That", and "Finale" from the album "We Are Young Money", which includes artists signed to the Young Money label.

In 2010, he collaborated with Chris Brown on the mixtape "Fan of a Fan". Later that year, he announced the release of his second solo album "Careless World: Rise Of The Last King", due to be released on January 24th, 2011.
