The episode ends with the Shopping Network being deluged with calls from the elderly now telling the host to kill himself, which he eventually does. "Cash For Gold" is the second episode of the sixteenth season of the American animated television series South Park, and the 225th episode of the series overall. It originally premiered on Comedy Central in the United States on March 21, 2012 and is rated TV-MA L.

Cartman launches a gemstones network show and creates a very lucrative business. Stan searches for the real value of a piece of jewelry that was a gift from his Grandpa. Meanwhile, Cartman's lucrative new business preys upon an extremely vulnerable clientele.

Plot

The Marshes visit Grampa Marvin Marsh, who gives Stan a hideously tacky bejeweled Bolo Tie. Stan and his friends know it is ugly and decide to sell the Bolo Tie to a Cash 4 Gold store, in order to regain the 6,000 dollars that his grandfather spent on it. The clerks there tell him the necklace is worth next to nothing. He goes from store to store and even a Taco Bell, but with every store he visits the price drops even lower. Cartman invites the boys to his house, where he reveals a formula for making money out of gold, similar in intent to one of the main goals of alchemy. Stan overhears his Grandpa planning to buy an item on the Shopping Network, but intervenes by calling the network and furiously telling the host what he is doing is wrong and that he should kill himself. Around this time Grampa Marvin revealed he had a dog but due to Alzheimer's he cannot remember anything about her.
