April Masini (b. 1964) is an American author, advice columnist, entertainment executive, and political activist. Masini moderates and answers advice seekers' questions on her advice forum "Ask April." She writes columns for Florida Weekly and Match.com. She has also published four books on dating and relationships and has been called the "Dear Abby of dating."
Life
Masini was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. She is the daughter of author June Stride and Robert Barry, director of Vietnam Veterans of America. She grew up in Clarksville, Georgia.
She moved to New York City where she waited tables and briefly attended Hofstra University to study business. She withdrew from the university to pursue a career in television acting and modeling. Masini acted in off-Broadway plays, television pilots, commercials and soap operas. She would then meet Al Masini, whom she would marry and work with from 1995 until 1999. Today, she is married to consultant Philip Spencer. Politically, Masini is a conservative. .

Today, Masini authors and moderates an online dating question and answer forum called Ask April. Masini provides free advice to readers, alongside guest experts and the forum's community members. Masini's advice and columns have been featured in USA Today, New York Times, the Chicago Tribune, and Men's Health. Masini has also made appearances on Univision, Telemundo and ABC News.
Masini also worked in television, and while married to television producer Al Masini, she was the producer that was able to get Baywatch to move the television show to Hawaii for three years, instead of the proposed move to Australia. She did this by reaching out to the governor and legislators of Hawaii, who advocated for the move. She also helped produce the feature film Blue Crush and the television show Miss Universe.
