She's All That is a 1999 romantic comedy film, directed by Robert Iscove, and is a modern remake of George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion (which was also the basis for the musical comedy My Fair Lady starring Rex Harrison and Audrey Hepburn).
Freddie Prinze, Jr. enacts the contemporary counterpart role to Harrison's Professor Higgins when, as the result of a bet, he embarks on a mission to turn Rachael Leigh Cook from a geek into a prom queen. The film's signature scene is the unveiling of Cook's transformation as she steps down a stair case as the then popular song, "Kiss Me" by Sixpence None the Richer, plays in the background.
Trivia
- Freddie Prinze's wife, Sarah Michelle Gellar, provides a cameo appearance as a girl in the school's cafeteria.
- The film was one of the main inspirations for the parody Not Another Teen Movie.
- The school, Torrance High School, was also used for filming Not Another Teen Movie. The school has served as Sunnydale High in Gellar's TV series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and also appears as the high school in Beverly Hills 90210.
