Princess Princess is a 2002 manga concerning Kouno Tohru, a transfer student to a brand new all-boys school. This school, while the most elite school in the area, has a bizarre tradition; "Hime" or "Princess". In order to break up the monotony of life surrounded by nothing but males, students (based on 'beauty') are selected to be princesses. They dress up as girls (usually in Lolita fashion) and attend school functions in drag. There are already two such princesses, Yuujirou Shihoudani and Mikoto Yutaka, known as the Western Princess and Eastern Princess, respectively, due to their room location. Kouno Tohru is roped into becoming a princess in the beginning of the series. Complications ensue.

Princess Princess is written and illustrated by Tsuda Mikiyo. The manga has been picked up by Digital Manga Publishing to be published in North America.

Princess Princess has become an anime, and episodes began airing in Japan on April 5, 2006. Speculation has risen among fans if the anime will contain more shonen-ai than the manga; Tsuda Mikiyo has commented the magazine Princess Princess was originally published in preferred her not to write it as a shonen-ai series.
