George Lincoln Rockwell, (March 9, 1918 - August 25, 1967), US neo-Nazi leader, grew up with divorced parents, both of whom were famous vaudeville comedians and actors, where he learned his skills for speaking to and working with crowds.

After earning a university degree in sociology, he joined the military and rose to be Commander of the US Naval Air Base in Iceland. Rockwell founded the American National Nazi when his attempt to get Douglas MacArthur elected as president of the USA failed. He blamed Jews for this failure. In 1959, he founded the American Nazi Party, under whose banner he ran for governor of Virginia in 1965.

After giving many speeches that led to riots, Rockwell was gunned down while stepping into his car in Arlington, Virginia by John Patler, a disgruntled ex-party member whom he accused of trying to insert Marxist propaganda into the newsletter of the party, The Stormtrooper.

One telling event in his career was his meeting with Malcolm X, a leader of the black supremacist Nation of Islam movement. The two - one a neo-Nazi and the other a black separatist - apparently got along well and agreed that blacks and whites simply did not belong together. Rockwell made a point of contributing $20 to Nation of Islam.

Rockwell's propaganda continues to spread through the Internet today.
