| The 4th and 5th floors of Pavek Hall are reserved for freshman students with majors within the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (AHSS) college. Students on the AHSS floors volunteer for this opportunity in their housing applications. Programs are periodically implemented specifically for the AHSS floor students and many students on these floors attend their required University Studies class (UNIV 189) together. This class is conveniently held in the basement of Pavek Hall. | |||

Pavek Hall is the newest of the four high-rise residence halls on the campus of North Dakota State University (NDSU) in Fargo, ND. The $3.9 million dollar project was finished in 1987 and is located on the southwest corner of the quadrangle of high-rise residence halls. At nine stories tall, it is one of the tallest buildings in the area. Average occupancy is around 280 students. Pavek has a mixture of freshmen and upperclassmen as well as male and female residents. The residents live single-gender by floor and co-ed by "House." The first floor has accommodations for individuals who require the assistance of a wheelchair, floors 2 through 5 are reserved for freshmen, while 6 through 9 are mostly upperclassmen. Pavek is also connected to the other four high-rises through tunnels that additionally connect Pavek to the West Dining Center and ACE tutoring.
History
Pavek Hall received its name in recognition of F. Leslie Pavek, Vice President of Student Affairs. Pavek was born in Grand Forks, ND on May 27, 1929. In 1952 he graduated from the University of North Dakota (UND) with a Bachelor of Science. He then went on to earn his Masters in 1960 and his Doctorate in 1968 from UND. In 1968 Pavek was appointed Dean of Students at North Dakota State University (NDSU). Then, in 1974, he was appointed Vice President of Student Affairs. In 1990, Pavek retired after 23 years of service to NDSU.
Staff
Pavek Hall is run by a live-in Professional Hall Director. Under the supervision of the Hall Director, 8 paraprofessional staff members serve the Pavek Hall community as Resident Assistants. On floors two through nine, one RA lives on each floor.
Hall Government
Meeting every Tuesday at 9:00pm, the Pavek Hall Government is an in-Hall organization influencing the development and direction of the community.

Location
Pavek Hall is located on the NDSU campus in Fargo, ND. It is a 10-minute drive away from downtown Fargo and equally close to the West Acres Shopping Center. Also, the hall is a 5-minute walk from the Wallman Wellness Center, the Fargodome and Newman Outdoor Field. All buildings on campus are within a 10-minute walk of Pavek Hall. Adjacent to the hall are volleyball courts and basketball courts available for the residents' use. The west dining center is accessible through a tunnel.
