== Warning: long term user interaction problems on User, and User talk pages ==

While I agree with G4, that is not vandalism, your editing of the User pages of others must still be adressed. These recent edits, for example: , , are indicative of a ] issue. The User page in question, is fine, your interpretation of the use of User pages is seriously flawed. The edit summaries that you have left with the changes only exacerbate the problem. Please do not make changes to the user pages of others. If you feel there is a problem with a user page, take it to an Admin and allow them to deal with it. Other recent edits outside the article space, such as to ] after he was blocked, and to Treasury Tag are clearly inflamatory. When an editor needs to be blocked for their errors, it needs to be carried out in a professional manner, that stops the problem and encourages them to resume positive input to the encyclopedia when the block expires. Your immature comments do nothing to help, and in fact only aggravate the situation. Again, if you feel there is a problem with the actions of others, take it to an administrator, or to the appropriate notice board. I don't believe that you fully understand the negative impact that you are having with other editors when you make leave the type of comments that you have in the examples above. From a glance at your edit history, this appears to be a long term issue, with numerous requests for you to modify your actions. If you are unable to change, then I suggest that you concentrate your efforts in the article space. Thank you for attention in this matter. ] (]) 12:21, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

Frankly, I can forgive you if you had been an asshole/troll/vandal in the past year but know this, the admins are still watching this page, be nice or your message may be simply removed and you may be blocked without further warning.

  • If I leave a message for you: Please respond on your talk page. I will add it to my watchlist, so you don't need to notify me, unless I don't respond when a response is expected (normally within 24 hours, unless the issue is urgent). This helps keep discussions in one place and makes them easier to read and follow.

  • If you leave a message for me: I will generally respond here. Either add this page to your watchlist or ask me to notify you of a response on your talk page.

  • If you are discussing an article: I would prefer to use that article's talk page, unless you'd rather not to use that page for some reason, such as commenting on a particular user's edits in semi-privacy.

  • I generally do not bother to leave messages on IP talk pages, since many IPs are dynamic, and there's no way to know the difference on the first edits. The user will more than likely never even know they received a message, so it's just a waste of time better spent on actual editing. (This is one example of how not having mandatory registration does a great disservice to IP editors. Because of this, IP editors really ARE second-class users, made so by Jim Wales' own non-negotiable (thus dictatorial) policies.) The main exception is vandalism warnings, which are required before most admins will block or ban for vandalism.

  • Please limit this page to discussions not related to any particular article, those covering a wide range of articles/topics, or personal comments.

  • Note: I reserve the right to decline or withdraw from a situation that is escalating or uncomfortable, without giving a reason, or to take further action through permissable means. (See this policy.) This may include removing your messages from my talk page. If I've done so, please DO NOT re-add the same meassage, or follow-up with another - They will be removed again, mostly likely with a edit summary about your obnoxiousness in continually hounding me. If you then follow this up wth an ANI report, you're proving that you are a real jerk, and I won't respond there either, per WP:DENY. I may, however, file my own ANI report against your harassment.

  • Further notes: Due to the misbehavior of a few IPs, IPs are sometimes prevented from editing this page. If you need to discuss an article, see the previous note. If you need to discuss something else with me, register, and come back in four days. If it's urgent, use the e-mail feature; it won't work if it's been abused lately. If you chose to whine on an admin complaint board somewhere, I'll probably hear about it. And ignore you. ;) PS. if you posted the type of comments on my page that you would post on an admin alert board, they would have been ignored and removed anyway!

  • Also, talk to me like a normal person, and don't just quote Wiki guidelines to me - I'm NOT a newbie (Read WP:DTTR!). I consider it rude, and will likely just delete your comments, and ignore the point, as guidelines can be ignored. If you do it anyway, and turn out to be wrong, an apology would be the considerate thing to make, though you probably won't since it's not a fucking, oberfucking, or unterfucking policy to apologize for your mistakes. (If Jimbo Wales wanted people to apologize for their mistakes, he'd have made it a policy, right?!)

  • If you want me to take your opinions and edits seriously, you ought to Register!. Otherwise one never knows who really made the edits, especially in the case of dynamic IP addresses.

  • If I mistakenly called your edits as vandalism when I reverted them, it was probably because you did not leave an edit summary. Please realize that, in many cases, unexplained edits are indistinguishable from vandalism! This also applies to Rollbacks.

  • I reserve the right to clean up this page in any manner I chose, including the use of Rollbacks for non-vandalism, and especially if you made more than one edit. Please do NOT re-post what I've removed, unless you are an admin issuing a formal warning, though I'll probably still remove it!

  • If you wish to keep a matter confidential, such as discussing personal and/or confidential information, you may use the "E-mail" feature (usually activated!). I will respond in kind unless otherwise requested. This is not for discussing routine matters regarding editing on pages - use the article talk pages for that.

What is the Secret?

Secret? What secret?
  • Someone asked me via email what is the secret that I've gotten so much vandalism plasted on my pages (130 counts!), drive-by harrassments (coined by Bugs!) and impersonators. To which, I can only reply you something two different Admins told me on two different pages/time:-
  1. http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=User_talk:Gogo_Dodo&diff=438201860&oldid=438201591 ;
  2. http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=User_talk:Ched_Davis&diff=438217890&oldid=438210146 .
  • Then it occured to me, I saw that somewhere on Misplaced Pages (User:Antandrus/observations on Misplaced Pages behavior#26) that says: "If a vandal insults you, it is a reliable indicator that you are doing something right." And most importantly, I believe in The Secret, doing good will attract more good and as long as I do more good than bad, everything is covered, don't let it bother you too much. Thank you! --Dave 21:14, 16 July 2011 (UTC) (PPS:Okay, I've kept my end of the bargain, the rest is up to you now - annonymous emailer. )
I haven't seen the film so I don't know how they develop the idea, but it certainly works for the big things -- such as "doing good", "becoming peaceful" and so forth. Your user page

Page unprotected

Hi Dave, I see that the protection has been removed from this page. Feel free to drop me a line if you start having problems with vandals again. I'm not going to watchlist the page because of (in all seriousness) what your aqua blue background does to me eyes. Cheers, Nick-D (talk) 11:24, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

  • Roger, wilco~! (Sorry about the colour, my eyes are too used to red at night, aqua blue is badly needed to balance it out. --Dave 09:40, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

Two things

First... damn your talk page header is looong! :p
Secondly, how do you get that little IAR banner to display? :) Salvidrim! 00:54, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

  • One; if I hadn't just archived the previous messages, your puter might have committed suicide. Two; I have added the IAR-ribbon/tag to your page. Any thing else I can help you with? --Dave 09:40, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

NNU wrap-up time is May 30

Hello. There are still some articles at Misplaced Pages:School and university projects/NNU Class Project/Winter 2012/Student list that need moving to the mainspace. Some have rubbish references and could be AfDd, so best not move those. But many just need a bit of cleanup and a move. If you have time to do a few, we would be much obliged. What's an American?

See here. These Latin Americans keep trying to tell me what I can call myself! So if I came to Singapore and told someone I was an American, where would they think I'm from? Peru?? ;) - BilCat (talk) 18:51, 25 May 2012 (UTC)

A Wiki Fanatic and Googlebooks and Popular Mechanics as a reference

Dear Dave, You won't believe this. I was doing my thing and in and old 1956 publication of Popular Mechanics was an article with pictures of the first monorail in the US. I remember that the monorail page was asking for references to improve that page. So I posted a link to that PM page by using googlebooks. Well my edit got reverted. No big deal I learn not to worry and move on. But I got curious. And went over to monorail and checked the history. This Wiki Fanatic deleted the reference because it had a googlebooks link. I guess I could have done a reference with just the publication name, date, page number and article title with ISSB number and that would have been ok. Can't figure that one out.
