Conflict of Interest challenge to PeterEastern?

I have responded to your conflict of interest query on my talk page. Apologies for the delay, but I had a lousy internet connection yesterday and I wanted to give a thorough response. I hope my response reassures you. PeterEastern (talk) 18:33, 17 May 2012 (UTC)

I cannot find a recent response. Could you post a diff, please? Thanks. Ebikeguy (talk) 16:24, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

CVU Academy

Thanks for your patience while this whole issue gets sorted out. It seems that 1/10 put hirself down as an instructor, though e only has 100 edits. E also put under tool use that he uses huggle and rollback, which he doesn't. Thanks for your understanding and expect to here from us within 24 hours. Dan653 (talk) 20:52, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

No worries at all, and thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Cheers, Ebikeguy (talk) 20:55, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
Hi, I am Electriccatfish2, and I will be your instructor after the one.tenth issue is resolved. Regards, Electriccatfish2 (talk) 22:02, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
Great! Thanks! Ebikeguy (talk) 22:03, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

My Editor Review

Thank you for both your positive comment at my editor review and for reverting the comments made because of my (Non-administrator comment)'s at my editor review. Thanks, Electriccatfish2 (talk) 22:12, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

You are very welcome, but please note that I did not revert User:Woodywoodpeckerthe3rd's comments. He reverted everything on his own once he realized there were better ways to get one's point across. Cheers, Ebikeguy (talk) 22:24, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
Question: Do you have rollback? Electriccatfish2 (talk) 22:02, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
Yes, but I have never figured out what it can do that Twinkle cannot. Ebikeguy (talk) 22:04, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
It can do the following:
  • Revert vandalism with the click of the button, with no "edit page" (Twinkle's Rollback can do that, also).
  • Access to tool like Huggle, or Igloo, which can only be used by rollbackers. If you are interested in Huggle, please let me know and I will put you with another instructor who uses it. (I am a rollbacker, but do not use Huggle). Thanks, Electriccatfish2 (talk) 22:08, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
I would be interested in learning about Huggle and Igloo. I looked into one or the other, got confused, and gave up. Guidance from a guru would be much appreciated. Ebikeguy (talk) 22:21, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
Okay, I'll get you an instructor that uses Huggle and Igloo. Electriccatfish2 (talk) 22:43, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
I contacted Tarheel95, as he is our only instructor that uses both Igloo and Huggle. I am awaiting a response, and will tell you when I get one. Electriccatfish2 (talk) 19:55, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
Thanks! I greatly appreciate your help. Cheers, Ebikeguy (talk) 20:00, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

Tarheel

Has not replied if we he will take you, so could you please choose Igloo or Huggle as we do not have an instructor who uses both. Dan653 (talk) 21:34, 16 June 2012 (UTC)

Huggle, please! Thanks. Ebikeguy (talk) 22:24, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
I'll try to get you aninstructor within 24 hours, but we have a lot of backlog. Dan653 (talk) 01:12, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
No worries. I now realize that I am not really the type of student that you are looking for, having already gotten rollback authority. Any help with Huggle, at any point in time, would be appreciated, but there is no rush. Cheers, Ebikeguy (talk) 01:31, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
I'll be your instructor :) but we'll get started tommororw as I am busy today. Dan653 (talk) 18:58, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

Re: Is this a candidate for AfD?

Re your message: No, I don't think would qualify for an AfD. It needs a massive cleanup though. It gave me a headache reading it and I'm still not entirely sure what it trying to say. Something is getting very lost in translation. I left a note at WikiProject Korea to see if somebody would be willing to take a shot at a better translation. Meanwhile, I think that article gave me a headache. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 06:36, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

block

Why do I need 3 people to tell me not to block, admins are useless every time you ask for someone to be blocked it take them an eternity. They're too busy bossing people about 90.204.156.116 (talk) 18:41, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

{(talk page stalker) Blocking can cause major problems if not done properly, so only Admins, who are trusted to block properly can block. Electriccatfish2 (talk) 18:44, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Removal of content without good reason and personally attacking users is unaceptable, which is why it would lead to a block. Requests for users to be blocked can be put here wp:aiv, and administrators are usually prompt. Dan653 (talk) 18:48, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
Things are getting a bit crazy around here. I THINK the IP who posted the original message in this thread is pretending to be FisherKing, but I could be wrong. Settle down, everyone. Methinks this situation will straighten itself out relatively quickly. Cheers, Ebikeguy (talk) 18:54, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

June 2012

I noticed the message you recently left to a newcomer. Please remember not to bite the newcomers. If you see someone make a common mistake, try to politely point out what they did wrong and how to correct it. Thank you. For horassing me about blocking after I had been warned FishingKing, waging war on Misplaced Pages vandals (talk) 18:43, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

I have not bitten any newcomers lately. My warning to you on your talk page was justified and polite. Besides, an editor as active as you does not qualify as a newcomer. Please try to obey the rules in the future. Ebikeguy (talk) 18:50, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

Can you please comment on the case? Thank you, Electriccatfish2 (talk) 20:52, 21 June 2012 (UTC).
Done, although I think Gogo's recommendation would have been enough to get this checked out. Cheers, Ebikeguy (talk) 21:07, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

FishingKing

  • I am very sorry and I hope you aren't too annoyed with me. You have to understand i did a block template for a user out of desperation as nonadmin was coming. This ip like blanked a page every 30 secs. secondly I didn't say chip was a nazi I just said that admins are too bossy. Then too many people said don't use block templates, I got the idea on the first message! I didn't understand what soviet monster was at first but I now know, my brother who is the opposite to me and likes vandalising with our IP, he was using my account after so he could copy templates, turns out these templates were saying that a user was a lesbian and a cross-dresser. I have told my parents and he is banned from the pc, so I promise you this won't happen again. I have worked so hard for the CVU and anti-vandalism causes recently and to get my account punished for something I didn't do would be like friendly fire. Regards CLOSED (talk) 20:19, 22 June 2012 (UTC)

well someone needs to stop the spi right away then. Dan653 (talk) 20:24, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
I'd prefer to let the admins decide whether to stop the SPI or not. They can make a judgement given all the input to date. Ebikeguy (talk) 20:46, 22 June 2012 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for commenting on the inline-twin debacle. Dig deeper and you'll see that we have is another Barnstarbob situation! And by an amazing coincidence it looks like he has cropped up again on the Vega article - see Misplaced Pages:Sockpuppet investigations/Barnstarbob. --Biker Biker (talk) 07:19, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

Yup, I saw the BSB sock notice. Interesting, but I don't think I have anything to add at this point in time. You are welcome regarding my chiming in on the inline-twin stuff. Your talkpage is always fun to stalk. Cheers, Ebikeguy (talk) 15:19, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

He made another sockpuppet. Your thoughts? Electriccatfish2 (talk) 22:27, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

It's sad. He could be such a good editor if he had a bit more patience. Cheers, Ebikeguy (talk) 00:11, 9 July 2012 (UTC)

conflict of interest LifeLock

i was under the assumption that you could add content as long as it was cited and factual.

i did not delete the lifelock page. i was adding to the awards area, when the entire page below the summery was deleted. as a lifelock member i feel strongly about the topic. i do not wish to remove any factual information from the page, but as much of it is biased and parts nonfactual, i felt it necessary to add the facts of the awards to show that LifeLock is more than what is being painted. all of my edits were cited.

one of the statements:

"In August 2011 the company nearly reached bankruptcy after it was found that the company falsely advertised their security claims and did little or nothing to protect the identity of their nearly 2,500,000 customers. The company still exists today after company disputes, however, Lifelock still is generally thought of as being a widespread scam after the company failed to prove that their security techniques were successful in protecting personal identity." is completely false.

1. the add was from 2010, not 2011. the FTC was concerned with LifeLocks advertising , not its actual product. the FTC actually states that the LifeLock product does "some" good. 2.LifeLock was never near bankruptsy... they reached a $12mm settlement, which is obviously not enough to bankrupt a company worth hundreds of millions of dollars... LifeLock is not "generally" viewed as a scam, and they have "proved" their technology works. LifeLock has never had 2.5million members. they only got to 2 million in november of last year.

i am a newbie on Misplaced Pages, and i very much want to contribute. im not sure how to protest the mass deletions of facts with references.

please advise, thanks -Jaxman123 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.113.137.206 (talk) 19:06, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Questions

I hope this is what you meant when you said bottom of the page. Where can I find more articles to edit/work on? Is there a resource for finding new or inadequate articles (obviously, but I don't know where)? Cktt13 (talk) 20:50, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

I'm not really an expert on finding stubs or other articles in need of work. If I were you, I would just find articles you are interested in and start editing. Then you can sign up for Suggestbot, and it will send you recommendations. Good luck! Ebikeguy (talk) 16:27, 14 July 2012 (UTC)

Wheel hub motor

Hi, Ebikeguy. Yep, you ran right up to the edge on this one. Please be careful. Your work is too valuable here to waste on such an unconstructive melee. See ya 'round Tiderolls 18:29, 22 July 2012 (UTC)

Yep. Right up to the edge. Then pulled back and called in the cavalry. I don't usually go that far, but since this case was so cut-and-dried, I pushed a bit further then I normally would. Don't worry, I'm still civil under my sometimes-gruff exterior. Cheers, Ebikeguy (talk) 22:17, 22 July 2012 (UTC)

Misandry

The very concept of misandry is an anti-feminist one, as seen in just about all the references on its page. You cannot argue that it isn't an anti-feminist concept, when the only group advocating for its very existence are "men's rights" organizations. There is a reason it is considered a neologism, and has only been used by anyone criticizing feminism. Countered (talk) 04:36, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

Haha, I just found where you added it back, when I removed it. It seems we have switched places. http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Misandry&diff=495152030&oldid=494172452 Countered (talk) 04:48, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

Um... No. Look at your diff again and you will see that it shows YOU adding the Wikilink back after I had deleted it. If you can find a reliable source that states that misandry is directly related to anti-feminism, then you may add language to that effect. Otherwise, despite any conclusions you may have personally drawn on the subject, the link is not appropriate. Ebikeguy (talk) 12:40, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
