Sponge is a post-grunge rock band from Detroit, Michigan. The band was formed in 1991 by members Vinnie Dombrowski, Mike Cross, and Joey Mazzola, all former members of the hard-rock band, Loudhouse. Sponge were signed to Sony Records in 1993. In the late 80's/early 90's there was also a band in Dublin, Ireland called Sponge.
