Placement Cell
Since its inception till date more than 12,000 engineering graduates have come out in various branches of engineering and have been absorbed in Nation's premier organizations like IES, IAS, PWD, Irrigation, Defence Services, R&D organizations in addition to private IT and Non-IT industries. Placements during the last 3 years are shown in the following bar chart and pie charts. The college has been one of the Nodal Centers in the Northern Karnataka for campus interviews of Wipro, Tech-Mahindra, HCL, Robosoft, SLK-Soft, Caritor, Integra Micro, Apollo Tyres, Hewlett Packard, etc. The performance of our students in campus interviews has been excellent all along. Many leading companies have expressed their satisfaction regarding the performance of our product and have gracefully selected our students.
Training activities:
The Training and Placement Cell organizes a number of training programs for the students of all semesters with the help of in-house experts and experts drawn from professional agencies. The activities have proved exceptionally useful in shaping the career of students. The staff members of the placement cell work together as a team in moulding the students to the requirements of various industries. Several career guidance programs, reasoning tests, aptitude tests, puzzle solving, group discussions, mock interviews, brain storming sessions, case-discussion, pick and speak, sharing the experiences and communication skills etc., are organized on regular basis. In order to motivate and develop the personality of students, several HRD training programs are conducted regularly. Following are some of the training programmes organized for the benefit of the students:
HRD Training Industrial Training Vocational Training
Project Training: The college has tiedup with IndiaCareer Portal to help students get jobs and also enhance their skills in careerplanning.
In order to help the students to come out of the problems they are facing, the Cell organizes counseling camps by the experts. Based on the counseling it also suggests the possible solutions/remedies to the problems. Counseling is done for Fresher to adapt himself or herself to the new Engineering College environment Pre-final year students to make themselves fit to get into a good organization Final year students to get a good job.
PG students to get a projects / industrial training / job. The efforts are made to help the students to get a good job even after they leave the college after their graduation. For the purpose a group ID exclusively meant for the purpose has been launched in 2004. Thousands of alumni have become the members of the group. The details of off-campus interviews, walk-in interviews and cal forms by different companies circulated through or shared among the group members.

Basaveshwar Engineering College Industry Institute Partnership Cell (BEC-IIPC)
Preamble:
In the post WTO regime. Both industries and institute are striving hard to increase their competitiveness with many hard to increase their competitiveness with many objectives in common. Despite this, it is surprising to see both the systems exhibiting a very little dependence on each other except between the large scale industries and the institute of Higher Technical Education like IISc. IITs etc. The interaction between the majorities of medium/small-scale industries and the Engineering college/polytechnics is virtually non- existent resulting in the delay of exploitation of our national resources to the fullest extent.
Today, it is globally acclaimed that scientific and technological capability of Human Resource is the major source of strength in nation building. Consequently, the success of any industry depends very much on the quality of the people who work for them. Particularly, in the context of medium/ small-scale industries, the needs are primarily oriented towards problem solving, with the support required in the areas of Design, Process improvement and plant and machinery performance etc., which can be fulfilled by the existing huge network of technical industries across the country. These institutes can be also intervene in solving specific industry related problems, carry out minor Technological Innovations/ Modifications aimed at Technology Absorption/Implementation etc, and organize Continuing education program for industry personnel. Industries in turn can contribute to academia in orienting its curriculum to produce Graduate Engineers/ Technicians suitable for their work places and support the basic research for creation of new knowledge.
The Basaveshwar Engineering College has setup an industry institute partnership Cell (BEC-IIPC) supported by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to promote the interaction between industries and the institute. This institute with more than four decades of expertise in imparting engineering education, has established many state of the art laboratories, testing equipment, library and information center, internet facility etc. Recently, World Bank took cognizance of this institute and recognized it as a Lead institute under Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP) for further excellence. Faculty members are actively involved in research activities cal University. Belgaum and various research projects are undertaken in these departments are supported by DST, CSIR, DRDO, AICTE etc.
Objectives:
- Establish linkage between industry and the institute.
- Identify industry problems and provide solutions
- Joint research projects
- Industrial consultancy
- Dissemination of knowledge
- Continuing education programs
- Greater utilization of resources
- Access to library and other infrastructure
- Access to laboratory testing
- Promoting industrial training for students
- Faculty training in industry
- Assistance incampus selections
Activities:
- Arranging industrial visits/ Training to students
- Mediating for laboratory testing facilities
- Providing professional consultancy
- Exchange of personnel
- Organizing industrial exhibitions
- Conducting seminars, workshops, continuing education programs etc.
- Technology appreciation programs
- Promoting participation of industry in building academic curricula
- Coalition group for mutual benefits
- Undertaking joint/long/short term R & D projects.
Basaveshwar Engineering College - Science and Technology Entrepreneurs Park(BEC-STEP)
Bagalkot district is located in northern part of Karnataka. The district has a strong agricultural base as three rivers pass through the region. The major crops grown are Jowar, Wheat, Turdal, Sugarcane, Cotton. Ground nut and Chillies. Fruits like Grapes, Pomegranate, Lemon, Sapota are also grown in considerable quantities. Recently, Government of Karnataka has identified Bagalkot as "Industrial Growth Centre" for Agro-based products. The region has a high concentration of handlooms and power looms. The products of these sectors are very popular. But due to the obsolete techniques and changing customer needs, the industry requires more reorientation The Bagalkot city and surrounding hundreds of villages are coming under submergence due to Upper Krishna Project. The city is being shifted to new planned township and rehabilitation centres are coming up for accomodating villagers. This has led to a large scale construction activities. Shortage of cost effective building materials and skilled labour is felt in this region.
BEC-STEP started its activities in 1998 and based on the local needs the following thrust areas have been identified:
