Admin coaching
It looks like we've been assigned User:EivindFOyangen to coach under the admin coaching program. I've suggested he (assume he from username?) sets up a user subpage to keep all coaching things together, and asked for a general idea of what he wants out of the program. Look forward to working with you. Cheers, Petros471 19:55, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
- User:EivindFOyangen/Admin coaching now exists, please add your input as you feel is appropriate- and of course let me know you think I'm feeding bad information (:-O) or if you have any suggestions as to what we should be doing as coaches. Petros471 20:05, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
- (moved from below) On other matters, I've put some more suggestions as to topics that need to be covered on User talk:EivindFOyangen/Admin coaching- could you take a look and see if you agree with that. Maybe you'd like to take on a couple of them- for example copyright (have you delved into copyright issues?) and deletion? Petros471 09:15, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

Apparently I'm a troll
Are you a bureaucrat on that vote?
What makes it a troll vote?
Also, should I just quit now and leave wikipedia? It seems that people like to complain about me.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Profundity06 (talk • contribs) 17:36, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Stephanie Adams
I asked for advice on IRC before placing it for AfD and at least 4 people agreed it should go there, along with someone else on the WP:RFPP page. Now I know the two users involved aren't exactly behaving themselves properly but I do object to it being called 'bad faith', and that would apply whoever had done the nomination. Petros471 21:14, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your apology. Calling edits bad faith rarely helps, and often makes things worse, but hey we're never perfect :) Petros471 09:17, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
Err...
I don't really like having the page broken up logically across multiple pages. I wouldn't've gone along with the previous unilateral archiving that some dude perpetrated on me without the extenuating circumstances that there were. 68.39.174.238 22:45, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
- Shouldn't take over 20 seconds for just the text. The MW portions I don't know. I remember it loading alright in its previous form when I used a 28.8 line on it. 68.39.174.238 00:53, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
- Thanx. Someone'll probably go and archive it anyway when I'm not looking... 68.39.174.238 01:02, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
- Interesting idea... I may just do that, but I'm not sure... there are a t0n already there... 68.39.174.238 01:15, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
about my addings,
hello, i know they are commercial but they are one of the best sources for models fans, everything on the sites are legal and copyrighted, and there is nothing junk, this is the most important part. they are all about the pornstars, they are not official but legal,
if you are working for the internet user and providing them good sources what they are looking, dont you think they are goods sources for fans?— Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.95.206.121 (talk • contribs) 17:00, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
Your revert of Cartwheel Galaxy
Hello Kimchi,
are you sure that your recent revert of cartwheel galaxy and the subsequent warning of User talk:220.255.154.96was warranted. It sounded like a good edit to me. Cheers, --Jpkoester1 09:23, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

Check the deletion logs. That page has been deleted soo many times it's not funny ;D! 68.39.174.238 04:25, 29 April 2006 (UTC)
- I would, but personal experience with things like that seems to show that things like that come across in the worst way, IE. a friendly request becomes an order, either explicitly by improper wording, or implicitly by reading between the (nonexistant) lines. I try and keep most of my 4th wall usrtalkpage communications couched so its extremely hard to read anything imperative out of them. It's not that big an annoyance, so I'm willing to just {{db}} it when I notice that tab's blue. 68.39.174.238 04:50, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

Elections
Esperanza electionsThanks for supporting me in the Esperanza Advisory Council Elections. Although I wasn't elected to the Advisory Council, I am very happy with the response I received from my fellow Wikipedians. I was shocked at the support, and was touched by it. Hopefully I will re-apply in June and try again for the job. Thanks again, Highway
The matter of 'Wuxia' and 'Mohop'
Sorry, I happened to be the chap who modified the wuxia to mohop/wuxia. It is the same characters in Chinese but mohop is more universally used by normal Hong Kong Chinese (I was one of them, now an expatriate in the US). Wuxia is generally used by the mainlanders, Taiwanese, and others who speak Mandarin. Prior to the handover to the People's Republic of China, HK predominately speak Cantonese. No offense to Mr .(?, sorry) Kimchi but it appears his country identifier seems to be Singapore. This being an article on HK, I believe I owe it to the HK citizens who are proud to have created the mohop/wuxia phenomenon and have annotated it as such in their honor. If the Mandarin speakers wish to call it 'wuxia', ok but we Cantonese, Hakka, Tanka Hkers and ex-HKers know it only as 'mohop' or the whatever dialectical name (but 'mohop' will suffice). By the way, I only changed the 'gongfu' to 'kung fu' whenever it was a HK production orf mention not when it was not. Lastly, I reside (still) in a free and democratic society with flaws but nevertheless still free and if wikipedia still stands for freedom and honour then please permit me to modify the mandarin wuxia to Cantonese mohop. Pre-revolutionary China may have made 'wuxia' but HK made 'mohop'. It is one of the HK's more endearing legacies before the 1997 takeover. Please restore the changes or allow me to restore the changes and you chaps can supervise or edit it. Thank you.
Anonymous but still an HKer.

- If you wish to challenge the naming, please post your requests on the Talk:Hong Kong action cinema, as it will be seen by those who frequently edit the article. I will only say here that your point is strange, the article has been edited quite extensively by native Hong Kongers and they, not me, are the ones who have settled on "gongfu" and "wuxia". I restored the {{copyvio}} tag. The 48 hour limit only applies to regular speedy deletions, not to copyvio's as far as I know. (any replies on this page please) -- Hirudo 13:31, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

Re: Cantonese Misplaced Pages and Esperanza
I use Changjie IME because the currently available Cantonese input methods are not maturely developed. Changjie cannot do with Cantonese dialect words, but I'd cover that with the toolbox at the bottom of the editbox.
Thanks for yout vote anyway.

X10
I think I saw it three years ago, so it's long gone by now. I just added it so that someone could write something on its impact on internet culture, it was after all the one thing people were forced to see in every popup for god knows how long :) -Obli (Talk) 17:34, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
- Ironically, the wikipedia article is all I can find when trying to source it, doh! -Obli (Talk) 17:36, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
Hmm... that's bad for our poor little bit of text. It'll have to stay out. But I did manage to find a source which mentioned both X10 and how to disable their pop-unders, which means that there's still some reminder of their silliness in the article. :-D Kimchi.sg 17:41, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
- After much Google handywork and slashdot archive digging I present to you: a source!, the original publisher (thelemon.net) is defunct, but someone saved it for later use. The details weren't exactly as I tried to recall for the X10 article, but the sarcastic undertone is there :) -Obli (Talk) 17:52, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
- *Great!* I'll add that back in right away. :D Kimchi.sg 17:58, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
A landslide victory for The JPS (aka RFA thanks)
Hey, Kimchi.sg, thank you so much for your vote and comments in my RfA, which passed with an overwhelming consensus of 95/2/2. I was very surprised and flattered that the community has entrusted me with these lovely new toys. I ripped open the box and started playing with them as soon as I got them, and I've already had the pleasure of deleting random nonsense/attacks/copyvios tonight. If I ever do anything wrong, or can help in some way, please feel free to drop me a line on my talk page, and I will do my best to correct my mistake, or whatever... Now, to that bottle of wine waiting for me... |
Thanks for the support on my RfA!

Dear Kimchi.sg,
- Thanks for voting on my RFA! I appreciate your comments and constructive criticism, for every bit helps me become a better Wikipedian. New task for Werdnabot?
Hi! Is your bot game for another archiving job? The archive section of Template talk:Did you know, which is humongously big at the moment, needs to be archived to Misplaced Pages:Recent additions. In conjunction, Misplaced Pages:Recent additions will also need archiving to ] as necessary.
This job was once done by AllyUnion using a bot whose code can be found at User:AllyUnion/did you know.pl, but hasn't been done for more than 2 months now. (The "rules" for archiving DYK are also on that page.) If your bot is up to the task, we DYK chaps will thank you very much! Kimchi.sg 13:26, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
- I'm certainly up to the task. Later on, I'll take a squizz and write some code, then run a trial job. I'll show you the diff, and possibly the code, and you can let me know what you think. Werdna648/C\ 15:43, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
