The March Massacre was the killing of a large number of ethnic Azerbaijani in March 30 to April 1 in 1918. According to Justin McCarthy between 8,000 and 12,000 Azeris were killed in Baku alone. Rovshan Mustafayev who is the director of the Human Rights Institute of the National Academy of Science, stated that about 3,000 Jews were also killed during the March Massacre . Israeli ambassador Arthur Lenk has stated that Israel will be involved in scrutinizing the developments of the investigation.
