This is MY talk page. If I delete anything you can assume that I have read it.

Gaelic Athletic Association county

Good work in clarifying that article. Would not have expected it of you. It avoids a comfy ambiguity that it previously had. Laurel Lodged (talk) 18:19, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

Charmed, I'm sure. Brocach (talk) 19:53, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

Northern Ireland

I think I'm going to faint, seeing a part of... being incorporated in that article's intro. Hopefully (someday), that neutral intro will be added to England, Wales & Scotland. GoodDay (talk) 00:12, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

Every once in a while, some of those who think of WP as a handy soapbox start to think how much more useful it would be if the content was neutral. Brocach (talk) 19:07, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
You just don't have a clue, do you? Your claim to be unbaised, at Talk:Northern Ireland is preposterous in the extreme! Van Speijk (talk) 22:30, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
I have never claimed to be unbaised. I have claimed to be unbiased, and to be able to spell. Brocach (talk) 23:08, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

Pavel Astakhov

Dia Dhuit!

I just would like to thank you for your great help in copy editing the article about Pavel Astakhov. I really appreciate your style and your efforts to bring this article closer to Misplaced Pages standards. Go raibh maith agat! --Daniel (talk) 01:37, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Is coma. Not quite there yet but I might have another go at it. Brocach (talk) 19:59, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

IMOS

Just wanted to say that I don't think your initial edit was intended to be unconstructive, but it clearly does not have consensus. For that reason I'm asking you, in the spirit of collegiality, to revert to the consensus version while discussion is ongoing. RashersTierney (talk) 00:06, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for that. It was certainly intended to be constructive. The elements of it that are currently being discussed are (1) the reference to England, which I think is unavoidable as the sentence is otherwise untrue; (2) the general principle of whether the traditional county should always be named - there is no requirement to do so, only a convention, so this just restates in the IMOS what the current situation is; and (3) some specific issues around Tipp & Derry. I'd like to let the talk roll on for a day or two to see where the discussion on those points is going and will revert all or part if it becomes as clear to me as it is to you that the edits, or parts of them, do not have consensus. - Brocach

You're breaking the links. Please stop now.

Your GAA re-naming are not being done in the correct manner. You are breaking the links to the history and to the talk pages. If you don't know how to do this yourself, please ask an admin. to do it. Either way, stop before you do any more damage. Also, there was no concensus on the Ireland talk page to carry out this mass movement. Laurel Lodged (talk) 17:11, 31 December 2012 (UTC)

"Mass movement"? I restored three pages to the locations that you changed with no discussion. Talk pages now also moved; not sure if possible to recover the histories (which were not especially extensive for these three championships) but I'll look into it, and be sure to follow Move rather than cut/paste when fixing other pages that you moved without consensus. Brocach (talk) 17:53, 31 December 2012 (UTC)

I've moved two of those pages back to their original non-GAA title restoring their history. I left the Junior one in the state it is in as there wasn't any history that needed preserving. If something needs moving over a page that already exists feel free to let me know as I can use the tools to preserve the history. Seems in this case the original moves to GAA weren't valid in the first place based on the name of the competition. Consensus by Laurel Lodged should have been obtained before moving. Canterbury Tail talk 14:09, 2 January 2013 (UTC)

Looking into it more it seems that Laurel Lodged has moved a lot over the last month and a half to include the GAA in the title name. If these also should exist without the GAA, let me know the articles involved and I'll see about getting them reset. Canterbury Tail talk 14:11, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, there are indeed other affected articles, all moved without discussion. In every case the word "GAA" is not part of the competition name, and in no case (that I am aware of) is there any similarly-named competition in another sporting code. Brocach (talk) 14:15, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
I objected to these odd changes before but was dealt with rather arrogantly: Misplaced Pages talk:WikiProject Gaelic games#Renaming of many GAA articles. LaurelLodged has also decided, without discussion, that Tipperary hurlers should be reclassified; not in Category:Sportspeople from County Tipperary but according to which administrative county (North or South Tipperary) they come from. "Concensus", as he/she spells it, only matters if anyone tries to undo his/her edits. Brocach (talk) 14:33, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
Forgot to point to this discussion as well. Other affected articles (that can't be moved back by a non-admin) include 2007 Limerick GAA Senior Hurling Championship; Waterford GAA Senior Hurling Championship; 2006 Limerick GAA Senior Hurling Championship; Munster GAA Minor Hurling Championship; and many other moves on 23 Nov; 20 Nov; 18 Nov; 11 Nov; 10 Nov. List of Gaelic games clubs in Ireland

In regards to List of Gaelic games clubs in Ireland, the reasons for the unpipe-linking is because it is not required and helps avoid the potential IMOS violation in regards to the usage of "Derry". You may revert it you want, however might i request that you leave Derry as "Derry GAA" so that it is clear that that is what it explicitly refers too?

Another reason for this is your recent addition to all Derry GAA club articles (actual not all, I had to do several) of a section-specific "#Derry" tag. Whilst this appear to be another attempt to side-step IMOS and state "Derry" in articles considering your recent attempts at using "County Derry", it is useful considering how long the list article is, hence my change in those articles to "#Derry GAA". For this to work however the article must state "Derry GAA".

So in the interests of good faith may I request you leave List of Gaelic games clubs in Ireland stating "Derry GAA" unpiped? It is a fair and reasonable compromise for the interests of the project. Mabuska 16:34, 2 January 2013 (UTC)

On this rare occasion, you are mistaken. IMOS states that "Derry GAA... will usually be abbreviated to Derry"; and List of Gaelic games clubs in Ireland#Derry will take you to the list of Derry clubs; List of Gaelic games clubs in Ireland#Derry GAA will at least take you to the right page. I see no good reason to adopt a different style for one county in the list and the solution is to revert changes to articles that you have linked to #Derry GAA in the list. Brocach (talk) 17:19, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
An addition you added yourself to the IMOS that wasn't discussed never mind have a consensus for addition. Whilst I have no issue in itself with that addition with the abbreviation within the text of a Gaelic sport article, I disagree that it should apply to article links especially considering your recent failed attempts at circumventing IMOS in regards to Derry/Londonderry - of which it is clear that this is another attempt at. There is no real reason as to why the county names in List of Gaelic games clubs in Ireland have to be pipe-linked especially if it helps avoid problems or issues such as this. Ah well, it's better to let our peers decide if so or not. See you again soon. Mabuska 21:54, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
Can you just remind me when I added that without discussion to the IMOS? Or would you prefer to withdraw and apologise? Brocach (talk) 22:07, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
Here? The Banner talk 13:52, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
Wrong. The suggestion was that I added to the IMOS "Derry GAA... will usually be abbreviated to Derry". I didn't. Brocach (talk) 14:03, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

Notice of Edit warring noticeboard discussion

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Misplaced Pages:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Misplaced Pages's policy on edit warring. Thank you. BlackPrinceDave (talk) 17:56, 19 January 2013 (UTC)

I notice that you, BlackPrinceDave, forgot to mention in your block request that you had previously characterised me as "a stupid cunt" and "an arsehole" because I had the temerity to question your views on whether the British union flag represented Northern Ireland here. You might want to go back to edit your block request and use similar language so that people know just how seriously to take you as an encyclopaedia editor. Brocach (talk) 00:16, 20 January 2013 (UTC)

January 2013

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 48 hours for edit-warring across multiple articles and categories. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.  Bbb23 (talk) 18:38, 19 January 2013 (UTC)
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

When I reverted a bold edit made by Laurel Lodged, (1) his edit was controversial and was made without discussion; (2) I (properly) added an invitation to take the proposed change and/or my revert to the talk page; (3) I opened a topic on the talk page. This is 100% playing by the rules of WP:BRD. Laurel Lodged, on the other hand, has made multiple changes to dozens of pages without seeking consensus, and then completely refuses to engage on talk pages when these are challenged, merely reverting again and again. I was blocked (in good faith I think, by what seems to be a busy admin) after a request by a user (BlackPrinceDave) with no talk page. This same user had previously abused me (calling me an "arsehole" and, in another edit, "a stupid cunt" for resisting his desire to use the British flag as the only flag to represent Northern Ireland, both here. Naturally he did not mention that when requesting that I be blocked. That block was put in place minutes later without my having had any chance to respond. An alternative suggestion: Laurel Lodged ought to be permanently banned or at least topic-banned on this range of articles (i.e. anything to do with Gaelic Athletic Association sports), where his edits have renamed scores if not hundreds of articles away from their common names; and BlackPrinceDave ought to be banned permanently for abusive language. In this instance, I have only reacted to behaviour that clearly contravenes WP expectations, and request that I be unblocked to continue contributing, as I have always done, in a constructive manner and within WP rules. I invite anyone to review my editing history. Brocach (talk) 00:02, 20 January 2013 (UTC)

Decline reason:

Your request demonstrates that you do not have the requisite understanding of edit warring to be unblocked at this time. Tiderolls 02:14, 20 January 2013 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I admit my language was uncalled for, and I therefore apologise. However, you should realise that your constant sarcasm and belittling remarks on Talk pages and in edit summaries are bound to, on occasion, elicit the type of response you got from me. I don't accept any responsibility for your disgusting behaviour. Brocach (talk) 10:27, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
