Your recent edits

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Misplaced Pages pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 22:51, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

Rodin

Hi, you'll need to put a reference regarding Rodin on the Ravioli page - Most people would associate Rodin with sculpture.Clovis Sangrail (talk) 04:04, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

  • All Good! Clovis Sangrail (talk) 04:32, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
  • The best way to figure things out is just to try (For coded bits like references, It can help to copy from other places and just change the bits you need). You can always roll it back to a previous version if you make a mistake. You can't really go too wrong (though I would advise being careful on any topic that's political - some people get pretty worked up there..) Clovis Sangrail (talk) 04:47, 20 May 2012 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages Help Survey

Hi there, my name's Peter Coombe and I'm a Wikimedia Community Fellow working on a project to improve Misplaced Pages's help system. At the moment I'm trying to learn more about how people use and find the current help pages. If you could help by filling out this brief survey about your experiences, I'd be very grateful. It should take less than 10 minutes, and your responses will not be tied to your username in any way.

Thank you for your time,
the wub (talk) 17:36, 14 June 2012 (UTC) (Delivered using Global message delivery)

Thanks!

Thanks for the barnstar! You seem to have all the qualities (and the dedication) to be an excellent wiki-editor. Hope you learn the essential tools and scripts quickly, for contributing without being hampered. You are welcome to ask me for help, or can simply use the advanced search (ticking only the "help" option). Anir1uph (talk) 03:22, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

Adding reference on wiki articles

Just follow the steps 1, 2 and 3 as shown and fill in the details

Hello Irondome! Please do not forget to add references for the content you add to Misplaced Pages. Adding a well formatted references is very easy to do.

  1. While editing any article or a wikipage, on the top of the edit window you will see a toolbar which says "cite" click on it
  2. Then click on "templates",
  3. Choose the most appropriate template and fill as many details as you can,

This will add a well formatted reference that would be helpful in case the website link (web URL) becomes inactive (dead/link rot) after some time. You can read more about it on Help:Edit toolbar or see this video File:RefTools.ogv. thanks and regards --DBigXray 07:58, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

Edit summary

Please type reasonable edit summary about your changes. typing four tildes "~~~~" is not needed in edit summaries anywhere. typing four tildes "~~~~" is only needed when you are posting a comment on talk page, even there you should only sign at the end of "your comment" on the talk page and not in the edit box. I hope this helps, feel free to ask any further clarification. Happy editing , cheers. --DBigXray 08:01, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

  • I can understand what caused this. The 2nd thread on this page, clearly explains your over cautiousness . Even in my early days, I was terrorized and regularly haunted by SineBot. and as if that was not enough, an editor came and posted a horrific image File:SineBot gerbil.jpg on my talk page. :) Luckily the haunting did not last for too long. and I learnt my way like you. cheers--DBigXray 10:03, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

A gerbil on steroids is not a good motivator. Damn! :) Irondome (talk) 10:10, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

Adopt a user program

Hello Irondome, I figured out that there was a minor typo in the template you pasted on User:Irondome I have corrected it over here. You can also drop a message to an editor of your choice from the list at Misplaced Pages:Adopt-a-user/Adoptee's Area/Adopters for this. regards--DBigXray 10:12, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

Appreciate that mate. You know, Im thinking its just better to stick with good collaborators like you and a couple of others :) Appreciated! Irondome (talk) 10:18, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

  • Agreed, thats the joy of learning, making few mistakes and learning on your own. I did the same and I was not even aware that there existed something such as the adoption program until few months back. The links on User_talk:Irondome#Welcome pretty much sums up everything. you can always contact editors who you think might help you, in your quest, there are {{helpme}} template, WP:HELPDESK, or WP:IRC as well. --DBigXray 10:31, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

I may sometimes hassle you with dumb questions, but I wont be a major pain. I think we will contribute and interact on projects in the future, so that would be cool my friend. Irondome (talk) 10:42, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

DBigXray has given you a dove! Doves promote WikiLove and hopefully this one has made your day happier. Spread the WikiLove by giving someone else a dove, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past (this fits perfectly) or a good friend. Cheers!

Welcome to the CVUA!

Hey, Irondome! I'll be your instructor here at the CVUA, and I can't wait to get started. :) First, I've got just a few quick questions - if you'd answer here and then leave me a {{talkback}} template when you're done, that'd be great. Again, can't wait!

  • You said "basic tools" in your request for enrollment - are you familiar with WP:Twinkle?
  • Anything else you might like to note?

See, those were short! :) Theopolisme TALK 11:16, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi Theo! No, not familiar with Twinkle. Been active on Wiki about 3 months. Ive got about 30+ pages on my watchlist, primarily on pages where I have had an input. My activity on Wiki varies, real life stuff, but it averages a couple hours a week. It can spike higher than that. Depending on mood n motivation.
Still getting to grips with citation and other technicalities, but I combat vandalism when I see it :) Irondome (talk) 21:46, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
Fantastic. I think we should start at the beginning (i.e. various policies, etc) - I'll create you a special page for your CVUA studies, which I'll post a link to momentarily. Thanks! Theopolisme TALK 21:51, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

RfA

Hi Irondrome. On the enWiki at least, there's is nothing to stop very new users from voting at RfA. However, it's an important process and some us have been trying hard to reduce the 'dramafest' effect. Please take a moment to learn more about the process, the research that is required before voting, and above all do understand that not all users may be on the time zone as you. Bad side of Misplaced Pages and why editors retire from wikipedia

Hi Iron I saw your comment on the SPI before it got deleted, Glad to see your concern against my tormentors. This is a bad side of editing at Misplaced Pages where some users, who have no intention of contributing positively to discussions , jump into it merely for the sake of WP:Trolling , They disrupt the process and enjoy hurling WP:AOBFs against editors with complete disregard to their contributions. ANI is often misused by them and it has earned the name of WP:Drama Stage. Their main intention is to malign editors by any means hook or by crook, you already saw a good example at the false SPI initiated against me. Sadly one has to deal with it. When this crosses the limits of endurance, the editors (and even many admins whom I have seen) are forced to leave due to the poisonous atmosphere created. regards --DBigXray 11:37, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Sandwich, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page American (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). The Village Pump is a good place to start when unsure of one's route. With regard to the article you hope to create, I see nothing at all wrong with starting in your own userspace as a sub page and working it into at east a decent stub with references before moving t to main namespace. the problem you face is the synthesis of original research unless you are remarkably careful.
