The first game of the Tigers was the July 13, 1967 night at the University Stadium, where Jose de Jesus "Triquis" Morales scored the first goal of his team and another drew 2-2 against Orizaba. The first line of this new era was: Gerardo "Pajara" Palacios, Jorge Urdiales, Zamarrón Miguel, Eduardo Humberto Lump Camping, Jesus Morales and Romulo Ruiz, Jesus Rodriguez (José Mauro Torres, replaced in turn by José Guadalupe Pina ), Jose de Jesus "Triquis" Morales, Juan Roberto Medina and Juan Alvarado. Your technician was Augusto Arrasco. In the 67-68 season, the Tigers by miracle escaped down to the Third Division. * In January 2006, Tigres defeated their arch-rival CF Monterrey to win their second InterLiga and qualified again to Copa Libertadores.

One of the most dramatic games in football history as staged Puebla and Monterrey Tigres in the Second Division. The last day of the League Tournament 67-68 at the Camoteros Angelópolis Cats beat the goal by Esquivel and left with one foot in the Third Division. The Tigers were left with 21 points and Orizaba was 20, but with a meeting pending against Celaya. * On July 19, 2008, Tigres UANL played against Atletico de Madrid as their official presentation for the Apertura 2008 tournament. Atletico de Madrid opened the score with goals from John Heitinga and Diego Forlan for a sturdy 2-0 in favor of the Spanish side. Tigres responded well to this for Blas Peres and Manuel Viniegra tied the game 2-2.

In the 68-69 season the Tigers also struggled to stay in the division of climb, but at least had a good satisfaction. Arciniegas William was crowned first champion Tigers scorer and Monterrey soccer with 24 goals. The boars of Nuevo Leon dropped the 1968-69 season, but his intention was to return as soon as possible circuit. So remained almost the same squad for the tournament 69-70 of the Second Division. From Season 69-70, under the presidency of Roberto Mendez Cáceres, the Tigers lived its golden age that took them to the maximum circuit.
* In 2010, Santiago Martinez presided over the team's worst season in the past few years. On March 27, 2010, after their 7th loss in the season, and with only 25% effectiveness, the stadium chanted "Fuera Guzmán", or "Out with" coach Daniel Guzmán. The event caused an embarrassing fist-fight between the fans opposing Guzmán and those supporting the club's administration (with rumors that the supporters were paid by management and started the fight{{citation needed|date=February 2012}}). Eventually, Martinez was fired and replaced by former Team President Ing. Rodriguez, who signed Ferretti as coach.

In the 69-70 season came to Tigres Paul "Hats" Guerrero, Paniagua, Mayorga, Lupercio, Diaz, etc.. and a coach was at the helm Odilon Mireles. So Tigers took fifth place overall with the best position in the Second Division.
* On December 11, 2011, Tigres became the champions of the Apertura 2011, winning their third championship after 29 years.

In fact, the club may have been closer to promotion to the First Division, having accepted the invitation of the Mexican Football Federation (FMF), to participate in a home run that would amount to another computer, along with the champion of that 1969 campaign -70, the Zacatepec. Days later, the FMF decided that the team 18th in the First Division for the 1970-71 season would come from a group consisting of Tigers, Puebla, National Union of Tanners and Guadalajara. The directors of the Tigers argued that the invitation to the tournament coupon was too hasty, since the Federation was only 48 hours to decide. Finally, with renegade Tigers and outside the small tournament, Puebla won the aforementioned homer and therefore an extra rise above National Tanners and Naucalpan.
In January 2005, the team won the ] Championship in ], ]. With this, they qualified for the prestigious ]. This was the first time the team qualified to any international tournament.

The Tigres adventure in the Libertadores included their first ever game in that tournament against ] in ] on February 15, 2005 (away, score: 0-0) and May 3, 2005 (home, score: 0-0). Their first ever win on the tournament, on February 23, 2005, against ], from ] (home, score: 3-1), and on April 13, 2005 (away, score: 2-5). This last game is the biggest-scoring game the team has had in its history on the tournament.

In the 72-73 season the Tigers repeated for the playoffs, this time under the command of Salvador "Chava" Reyes, but eliminated them Irapuato with 2-1 win in the University, with goals from Guevara and Ortiz, while Gerardo Cornejo was the only goal feline. In the party of visitors, the "strawberry" initialed by their classification Aspeitia goal in their 1-0 victory and a 3-1 overall Finally, the third time was the charm. In the 1973-74 season, Jose "Che" Gomez led the Tigers to the title and promotion to the First Division. First removed the Tanners with dramatic 1-1 draw in Leon. Then in the crucial game, held on May 19, 1974 in Guadalajara Stadium Technology against the Black Lions of the University of Guadalajara, Guadalajara fans resorted to threat, intimidation, seeking to alter the stability Tigrera , creating an inferno. So, to that game was called the "Game of Terror". However, although the cats lost 2-0, with goals from Zamora and Javan Garcia won the championship and its installation in the First Division, with 3-2 on aggregate.
In the same group was also the ]. Tigres confronted them on March 15 (home, score: 2-2) and on April 6, 2005 (away, score: 0-3).

In this tournament 1973-74 Tigers also had Jose Luis Puente, his second scoring champion with 30 goals. On July 13, 1974 under the command of José "Che" Gomez, the Tigers showed up for the 1975-76 season in the First Division, facing the Rayados of Monterrey. The Tigers were not daunted and managed to pull a 3-3 tie. The duo Claudio Antonio Jasso Lostaunau and was the first change in the coaching of Tigers. That season saw the team fall into a streak of 21 consecutive games (16 and 5 League Cup) without victory, a record that still remains negative in the institution. With just one year in the maximum circuit, the Tigers national cimbraron with football when unexpectedly crowned Champions Cup defeating America 1975-76 season, to give Monterrey the first major title in its history. Tigers also finished Team scoring champion with 21 goals, while Alfredo "Scorpion" anointed monarch Jimenez Individual scorer with nine darts.

On Quarterfinals, the first game on June 1, 2005 was lost (away, score: 0-4) and the next game on June 15, 2005 was won (home, score: 2-1). The aggregate score was 5-2 against, and the team was eliminated from the championship. With Tigres, ] became the first person born in ] to ever score in the tournament.

The 1976-77 season was a nightmare. For much of this season the club was the last-place overall, which led to the departure of the technical direction of Claudio Lostaunau then Mario Perez and finally the arrival of "fireman" Hungarian Arpad Fekete. The last, the Tigers could get last place overall, but could not prevent the league for non-drop, which raffled agonizingly, to stay in first.
====2006====

For the 1977-78 season, Detroit was the ridiculous to the sublime, to get the league championship 77-78, under the command of Uruguayan Carlos Miloc and great performance by Tom Boy and Geronimo Barbadillo. During the season 77-78, the Tigers came to have a handicap of eight points in Week 21 with respect to Monterrey (second group), so they were given up for dead to go to the league title in the called "Group of Death". Los Rayados came as clear favorites for the second classic of the season against Tigers, as had 12 games without losing. Contrary to predictions, the cats were placed 4-2 and since then not only able to reduce the advantage they had the Monterrey, but in the end Tigers ranked as second in the group, to get four points clear at the Rayados. Once in the finals, the Tigers took a big step towards the crown by beating Uruguay 2-0 with goals from Daniel Walter Mantegazza to UNAM homestand. On May 27, 1978 in Mexico Stadium 68, a 1-1 draw with Pumas goal by Mantegazza, titled Tigers.
After defeating ] at the ] in California, Tigres won their second consecutive Interliga and became the first Mexican team to qualify to two consecutive ].

The Tigers made the best season in its history with 48 points in the regular schedule in the 1978-79 season, still under the command of Uruguayan Miloc but not revalidated the championship. The team qualified for the playoffs for the title, but failed to reach the final.
In this edition, Tigres faced the ] from ], the ], from Brazil, and ], of ].

In the 79-80 season the Tigers finished eighth overall with more goals conceded than scored. In that same season, suffered their worst rout Tigers, 0-7 against Atlante in the very Estadio Universitario, at what Tigers made three moves in its technical direction. The Brazilian Carlito Peters started as coach, but was fired and his place was taken Olidón Mireles, who in turn was also fired in the playoffs and finally entered the Peruvian Claudio Lostaunau coaching for the league final. Tigers in the playoffs left out National University, America and Zacatepec. In the last group game to beat the Tigers needed Zacatepec home for more than three goals, and that will tie America and University. Zacatepec Tigers finally thrashed 4-1, with great performance Azuara, Edu and Barbadillo, aware that America and UNAM empataban zero. With this, the cats came north to their second final in three years. A Tigers would behoove then play against Cruz Azul, in what was one of the most dramatic instances decisive of all time.
However, they were eliminated in the round of sixteen. Tigres played ] of ] on April 27, 2006 and again on May 4, 2006. The matches ended 0-0, and Tigres were eliminated on penalty kicks (5-3). In summary, Tigres played 8 games, and produced 3 wins, 3 ties, and two defeats.

The first game was won by Cruz Azul 1-0 in the University and in the cement Azteca appeared to have the title in his bag to go up 3-0. However, left claw Tigers get 1-3, before Cruz Azul 4-1 increase. Back came the Tigers breed and overall made the score 3-4. In one harrowing game, scored by Tigers: Barbadillo, Jimenez and Azuara. Also the goalkeeper Pilar Reyes was qualified as a center forward and gave a pass to taloncito goal. Already in injury time, Tomás Boy was just before the goalkeeper Miguel Marín, but his shot was miraculously covered by the "Superman" cruzazulino, decreeing the coronation cement.
====2012====
After finishing 3rd in the Apertura 2011 Tournament, they returned after a 6 year absence to the ], playing in the first stage.

That July 13, 1980, will always be remembered by the Azteca Stadium marker, which announced incessantly: "Tigers: This team does have heart."
Tigres are playing home and away qualifying matches against ]'s ]. They have played the first match in Chile, on January 25, 2012 at 6:50pm local time (3:50pm CST). They tied 2-2 and failed to qualify for the Group Stage.

1980s: The second title

As has been characteristic in feline history, the Tigers suffered severely high and low throughout the eighties, torn between the descent and glory. However, the peak in the squad reached the 81-82 season by winning the title of Champion League, which did not come easily. A lot had to wrangle the cast led by coach Carlos Miloc, clinging to victory in a final settled in an agonizing denouement of maximum penalty kicks against the Colts Iron Atlante. Architects of this title were again Barbadillo Tomás Boy and Geronimo. Then, between performances gray campaigns, the Tigers reached the quarterfinals in the 83-84 and 86-87 seasons to exit quickly defeated by Pumas and Morelia canaries, respectively. Then, to close the decade so honorable, attended their second cup final of the season 89-90 after two straight years of flirting with relegation. On that occasion fell inexplicably, according to many, by arbitral awards, before Camoteros of Puebla. In the first leg, won by a convincing Tigers 2-0 at home, but in the back, when the cup seemed destined for the shelves of the club Monterrey, Puebla ran over to graduate with 4-1 marker champion.

===The 1990s: The tragedy of descent and a lightning return===

What appeared to be a positive lock in the eighties, resulted in dark predictions for tournaments in the nineties. The cats of St. Nicholas in just a couple of occasions reached the quarterfinals, falling against Leon Esmeraldas in the 1992-93 season and the Rays of Necaxa in 1995-96. Precisely in that edition 95-96, the Tigers were awarded the second Tournament Cup history, winning against all odds to Atlas de Guadalajara 1-0 away after one match in the first leg.

Unfortunately there was little lasting joy in UANL squad since the game against archrival CF Monterrey eventually remove all possibility of keeping the club in the First Division losing 2-1 in the 1995-1996 season. Nothing went right, the cats fell 2-1 to Monterrey and Tigres dropped. The match was immortalized as the Classic of Descent, but anyway I was defined by the triumph of Morelia. In an unusual case in Mexican soccer, UANL, despite having fallen, he agreed to the playoffs, being eliminated by Rays Necaxa.1

His internship for Primera A, however, was brief. In 1996 it won the Winter Tournament by defeating Atletico in the final overall result Hidalgo 3-1, earning half their ticket for the final for promotion. The next Summer Championship in 1997, also crowned, rising to maximum circuit automatically in just a year's absence, after a surprise defeat against the Roadrunners of ATU score of 0-1 in the first leg in the same University Stadium gave an emphatic 4-0 goliza the second leg at Estadio visitors Marte R. Gomez de Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas.

Although the Tigers return to the First Division was the most emphatic, and in being there diametrically varied circumstances. With teams of equal or higher level, the cats struggled to find victory and so, just in the seventh round of the Winter 1997 was dismissed coach Alberto Guerra and his place was taken by the legendary Carlos Miloc. However, neither Miloc could lift the Tigers and the only thing memorable was that broke the rule of the Rayados, beating them 3-2, and snapping a streak of 13 games without a win at Monterrey in Monterrey classic story. That resounding victory renewed the hopes of the fans, dreaming of a feline whole destined to the top of Mexican soccer.

The 1998 Winter seasons, Summer 1999, Winter 1999 and Summer 2000 had been a complete failure for the Tigers since despite having a picture composed competitive: Luis Hernández, Javier Saavedra, Claudio Nunez, Jose Luis Sierra, etc., With technical quality as Batocletti Osvaldo Miguel Mejia Baron and Victor Manuel Vucetich, failed to reach or reclassification.

===2000s: Runner-up, Copa Libertadores and the threat of relegation===

In the early arrival Mr. Alejandro Rodriguez as director, president and he subsequently came better times for the club. Was hired to coach Ricardo Ferretti, who arrived in the Winter 2000 tournament. Construction began working with a staff of experienced men as Claudio Suarez and Antonio Sancho as pillars of his team, and although it was characterized by a setter par excellence, some obtained liguillas and a runner at home to Pachuca on the Winter Tournament 2001 were the results that gave the Brazilian.

Next came the helm Nery Pumpido that Nestor Silvera joined in the attack and fully exploited the arrival of Walter Gaitan who excelled as the new idol feline. Back in the 2003 Apertura Tournament Tigers would be super leader and fate put to Pachuca in the feline way, and again tuzos crowned at Estadio Universitario.

Internationalize the time came to attend twice a Copa Libertadores where good performances were achieved. In 2005, the Tigers qualified for the Copa Libertadores, where they faced the Alianza Lima, Caracas FC and Banfield of Argentina, in the 8th. removed at the end of Once Caldas then defending champion of the Copa Libertadores, and then be defeated in 4OS. end by the São Paulo FC which ultimately would be the champion of the tournament. In 2006 participated for the second consecutive time in the Copa Libertadores. Located in group 4, together with the Corinthians, Catholic University and Deportivo Cali, the Tigers advanced to the next round with a 1-0 against heart Chilean box and then are eliminated in 8th phase. final series of penalties by the Freedom tied after both games 0 goals.

Wrongly, were allowed to leave of Mr. Alejandro Rodriguez and gave the presidency to Mr. Fernando Urdiales. The change of character and a man of wide experience in football by a man as weightless and with little knowledge management were noticing on the computer. In the Apertura 2007 tournament managers and Sebastian Fernando Urdiales Luri made mistakes and bungled the job just beginning coach Mario Carrillo. Then he hired the coach Americo Gallego who came to the team to work in strange ways.

For the poor performance in recent seasons, and the problem of lowering the Tigers lived, coach Americo Gallego was sacked after falling 6-1 to Pachuca. After Americo Gallego was hired Manager Manuel Lapuente and Fernando Urdiales was supplied by Enrique Borja in office administration team.

In the second match with Manuel Lapuente in command, came to the league after three seasons of trying. More new account will be failed in the attempt to reach the championship quarter-final tie against Atlante. In the third tournament with commanding Manuel Lapuente this was dismissed on 21 February 2009 for poor performance as of 21 possible points coach Manuel Lapuente I can harvest only 6 of them and replacing them came Argentine Jose Nestor Pekerman strategist , on the last day of the Clausura 2009 Tigers team was saved from falling through the Necaxa lost their last match against America at Estadio Azteca and the Tigers tied with Morelia, this combination of results led to a difference of 2 points between a computer and another and therefore the Necaxa down to the First Division 'A'.

Night of May 26, 2009 is officially changing naming team President Santiago Martinez de la Torre as the new president, ending with Enrique Borja management as Tigers president, Santiago Martinez de la Torre, made his first movement which was to appoint Daniel Castañeda Guzmán as new Technical Director, Jose Nestor Pekerman to this left his post as technical director of the Tigers.

The afternoon of March 28, 2010 Daniel Guzman was sacked after falling back 1-0 to Toluca and were riots in the stands of the Estadio Universitario by the poor performance in the tournament. On March 30, Santiago Martínez rehired as coach Daniel Guzmán Castañeda Tiger by the supposed confidence in it.

===2010s: The return of Ricardo "Tuca" Ferretti, and the third title===

On May 17, 2010, Cemex Company together with the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon take the descision to remove from office Santiago Martínez de la Torre and Daniel Guzmán and bring back the presidency to Mr. Alejandro Rodriguez Miechielsen with Miguel Angel Garza who brought these same Technical Management team who either Tigres coach Ricardo "Tuca" Ferretti. However, they are eliminated in the quarterfinals for the Club Deportivo Guadalajara after losing 3-1 at the Estadio Omnilife and tying one on lap at Estadio Universitario.

In the Apertura 2011, is traded midfielder Jesus Molina to America. Meanwhile, Antonio Sancho announces his retirement from the court in a pre-season friendly against champion Pumas ending in a 4-2 in favor of the felines. Due to the suspension and subsequent injury Juninho, the board announced the hiring feline borrowed Mexican defender Carlos Salcido selected. This acquisition is particularly surprising, as the direct rival Tigres, Monterrey, openly sought.

Tigers season to achieve satisfactory performance coined 3rd place in the overall standings, earning 28 points, including 7 wins, 7 draws and 3 losses, including thrashings at home against Pachuca 5-0 and 4-1 against the past champion , Pumas. Club de Fútbol Tigres de la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, commonly referred to as Tigres de la UANL, or simply Tigres, is a professional Mexican football club based in San Nicolás de los Garza, a city located in the Monterrey Metropolitan Area. Founded in 1960, the club has spent most of its history in Liga MX. Tigres has won the Liga MX three times, in 1977-78, 1981-82, and Apertura 2011.

It is one of the two professional football teams of the state of Nuevo León. The team plays home games at the Estadio Universitario. Tigres is also the official team of Nuevo Leon's public university, the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León.

History

Birth

In 1957, he founded the Club Deportivo Nuevo Leon, which was known by the nickname of boars. The basis of that pioneer, was established on Anahuac Deportivo, a team who had just graduated from the Northern League called.

In early 1960, the piglets ceased to exist. Multiple economic problems caused the club was ceded to the UANL, where he was initially run by Jasso and Luis Ernesto Romero Lauro Trevino. The school was renamed Club Deportivo de Nuevo Leon, AC besides adopting for the first time in history the nickname engramado Tigers and jump to the blue and gold uniform.

On March 7 the Second Division officially accepted the new name, which the flamboyant Tigers were ready to face Monterrey, which was the first clash of history to its rivals, before which lost 2-0. Ironically the Monterrey Tigres was step in their quest to achieve the maximum circuit, because thanks to this defeat their arch rival Division II champion and reached the dream of reaching first. For two full seasons and two partial at the Tigers remained in the jurisdiction of the Second Division. Perhaps the crowning achievement during that first was feline, was the advance to second round achieved in the 1962-63 season, which were eliminated by the Laguna with 3-2 on aggregate.

During that season, the shadow of the economic problems reappeared and again on franchise growth was affected. So, President Ernesto Romero Jasso decided to return the franchise to Sport Club Nuevo Leon. The September 21, 1962 were signed documents legalized Tigers return to boars of Nuevo Leon, which were Managed by a group of people linked to industrial life led by Alejandro Belden, Lorenzo Milmo, Sergio Salinas, Sergio Belden, Luis Lauro Gonzalez and Francisco Barrenechea. Four days later, The announcement was made official new change.

In 1967, after a series of agreements, mergers and transformations over the feline claw is present again in the Mexican professional soccer scenario, upon re-entry into the Second Division. Again the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon, was the entity that sponsored the welcome pack of big cats and this time, to stay forever.

The College Board decided to establish the Club Deportivo Universitario as a civil partnership, which also concluded the construction of the University Stadium, which opened on May 30, 1967.

The new and current Tigers U.A.N.L. played for the first time on July 13, 1967 at the new Estadio Universitario. Jose de Jesus "Triquis" Morales made history in comparison to that mark not only the first but also the second goal from a tie to two in Orizaba.

A franchise that with the support of the U.A.N.L. could finally settle in Mexican football.

1960s: The beginning

Those were times of anxiety for college squad, not only in the sporting but also economically. Adversity seemed to be around the team and already accustomed to playing mostly in wet ground or in the rain, with 50 entries in armchair and 200 people in general.

For those rare circumstances coined the phrase which fully reflected the situation of cats: "It's Thursday, the Tigers play and it rains." Since his first game at 67-68, one where the "Triquis" Morales had scored the first goal in the history brava university was boiled in the second half.

One day later, the great mannitol Cajeteros gave the Tigers with 2-1 victory over the jarochos and these dropped to the lower division.

Logically, were favorites to win the Tigers their first Classic of history August 15, 1969 at the University Stadium. However, the Cats prevailed 2-0 with goal by Raul "Dog" Polo Diaz and Barba.

From Season 69-70, under the presidency of Roberto Mendez Cáceres, the Tigers lived its golden age that took them to the maximum circuit.

In the 69-70 season came to Tigres Paul "Hats" Guerrero, Paniagua, Mayorga, Lupercio, Diaz, etc.. and a coach was at the helm Odilon Mireles. So Tigers took fifth place overall with the best position in the Second Division.

1970s: Promotion to First Division and first title

In 1970, the famous tournament in Mexico 70. Since then, Detroit was in the fight for promotion and finished in fourth place.

In the 1971-72 season, under the command of the Peruvian Grimaldo Gonzalez, Detroit ranked first in the league owner. With José Luis Puente goal, won 1-0 away to Salamanca and then advanced to the final with a 3-1 victory at home. Bridge, Langarica and Cornejo scored the goals to stop cats aggregate score of 4-1. However, in the title game of climbing, Atlas was more than Tigers and won 4-0 at the Estadio Azteca, with annotations Herrera García Berna, Cedano and Aceves.

Conquest of 75-76 Cup scepter raised high expectations, but in the league that season (75-76) the Tigers were a complete failure as even achieved the final round qualifying for the championship.

The Tigers made the best season in its history with 48 points in the regular schedule in the 1978-79 season, still under the command of Uruguayan Miloc but not revalidated the championship. The team qualified for the playoffs for the title, but failed to reach the final.

That July 13, 1980, will always be remembered by the Azteca Stadium marker, which announced incessantly: "Tigers: This team does have heart."

The 1990s: The tragedy of descent and a lightning return

2000s: Runner-up, Copa Libertadores and the threat of relegation

2010s: The return of Ricardo "Tuca" Ferretti, and the third title

On May 17, 2010, Cemex Company together with the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon take the descision to remove from office Santiago Martínez de la Torre and Daniel Guzmán and bring back the presidency to Mr. Alejandro Rodriguez Miechielsen with Miguel Angel Garza who brought these same Technical Management team who either Tigres coach Ricardo "Tuca" Ferretti. Also arriving at the institution the Argentine midfielder Damian Alvarez and defender Vendrechovsky Anselmo Junior "Juninho" as reinforcements.

It achieved 25 points in the Apertura 2010, moving away from the relegation zone to the team than just the last tournament was saved, standing in ninth place overall.

In the Clausura 2011 left the institution several elements, including striker Itamar Batista, and come Danilinho, Chilean striker Hector Mancilla and Mexican-American Defensive Midfielder Jonathan Bornstein. Beginning with a tie at 2 in the Corregidora against Querétaro FC, just get a home loss against Toluca and one away against eventual champion Pumas UNAM. Note that in Week 3 against Club America, debuts new goalkeeper Enrique Palos replacing Cirilo Saucedo, achieving a performance that gave him a greater ownership from Round 4 against Santos Laguna.

They finish the initial phase as super leaders after 17 days, in addition to imposing the best defensive record in the history of short matches with only 9 goals against, besides tying the record with Pumas and Pachuca hung up 10 zeros in a tournament.

Tigers thus enters the final phase, turning to find who wins Pachuca 4-0 (1-0 and 3-0 at home visit). Later on December 4, 2011 the team defeated Queretaro with a goal difference of going to an end after eight years.
