Doberman Pinscher

The Z factored (albino) Doberman is not properly addressed on the Doberman page. This is not something that (as you put it) I personally feel strongly about, it is a proven fact about the dog. Did you even go to the AKC website and see about their Z list? In my VERY EXPERIENCED opinion, and anyone else who is an experienced Doberman trainer, handler, reputable breeder, or even a typical vet is aware that the albino Doberman, and the uncaring individuals who continue producing them for profit have destroyed many a wonderful Doberman bloodline over the years. If maybe my wording of it was a bit harsh, I can keep my personal feelings of the matter out of it, but discussing the Z factor in a Doberman is just as important as discussing DCM, or wobblers. It is a serious health issue. I really wish you yourself would do some research on the matter, and add a section to the page yourself in your own words. That way you won't have as the author of it a 33 year Doberman trainer/handler who's love for the breed surpasses his love for any human on the planet including his own boyfriend, and who now uses a Doberman as a medical alert dog. I have trained and raised 14 companion, and 4 working Dobermans since I left home at the age of 15. I will totally agree with you that I have a personal stake in this, and maybe someone who is less involved but just as educated about it author it would be a better idea. I really would like to see it addressed properly, though. Without that, you have not accurately described the topic, and what you do say about it is not anywhere near sufficient. Thank you, Shaun Adams, Dana the Doberman service dog CGC (ret), and Ava the Doberman SDIT — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.212.121.205 (talk) 07:45, 31 March 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately, the information added to the Doberman Pinscher article in these two edits did not include any references and were not worded in an encyclopaedic manner, which is why it was removed. Perhaps you might like to re-word it and include the appropriate references to support the information. SagaciousPhil - Chat 09:42, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

Phil, what a patient and courteous response to an snotty paragraph which completely disregards the civility guidelines Wiki users are urged to follow. I guess "urged" is the operative word here. Final4one (talk) 14:55, 7 April 2013 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for March 31

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited James Ferguson, Lord Pitfour, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Maud (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

DYK for James Ferguson, Lord Pitfour

Updated DYK queryOn 5 April 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article James Ferguson, Lord Pitfour, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Lord Pitfour used a trick to save many Jacobite rebels from execution? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Re:Exile

Thanks! That was the right edit to make. My typing rarely keeps up with the speed of my thinking and if I type the wrong word entirely the spell check doesn't flag it! :) Miyagawa (talk) 17:31, 5 April 2013 (UTC)

You're welcome! Maybe one of these days I'll actually watch a Star Trek episode, although I seem to be learning more about Captain Kirk and co all the time - isn't it fab I know about Kirk and can even bring the name Mr Spock to mind? Unfortunately, my typing and brain have the opposite problem - typing can be faster than my 'dribbly brain' syndrome can keep pace with! SagaciousPhil - Chat 17:58, 5 April 2013 (UTC)

James Hall Office ACME Mapper fn

I looked at it and thought I had fixed the mistake, but it seems I was wrong. I bet it's some arcane formatting problem where you can't use some character. One beyond my current understanding. Daniel Case (talk) 20:55, 6 April 2013 (UTC)

Replied on Daniel's talk page as I'm feeling very smug......... I think I've fixed it, but you know what they say about pride coming before a fall, so maybe I shouldn't speak too soon? SagaciousPhil - Chat 09:09, 7 April 2013 (UTC)

Poodle photo and poodles as working dogs in WWII - What happened?

Hi Phil. I was just checking the poodle entry and noted that the picture of the Silver which I added in February and which you helped me with is gone. Gone as well is the entry I made about poodles as working dogs in WWII. What happened? Do you know? Thanks.Final4one (talk) 23:57, 6 April 2013 (UTC)

Hi Final4one, it's lovely to see you back! At a quick glance, things look a little weird with the Poodle article; it had a protection plate put on it after some persistent vandalism but that seemed to disappear before the date specified on it; then an editor made sweeping changes on 20 March that not only removed the picture, the WWII info but also a piece I'd included about the Crufts Best in show winner - all of which were referenced to reliable sources. I might not have time to get to it today but hope to have a better look over the next few days. I hope you're keeping a bit better? SagaciousPhil - Chat 09:09, 7 April 2013 (UTC)
I've tried to work out what went on with the Poodle article but have, in the meantime, given up! I've posted on the Dogs project page here to see if I can get some feed back from others. Unfortunately there is not really a lot of activity on that project though - I think we all get fed up continually reverting edits like "my dog is soooo awesome" and additions of "poo" to every other paragraph - so I'll leave it a few days to see if there is any response over there about it. SagaciousPhil - Chat 13:40, 7 April 2013 (UTC)

Oh Phil, you are a long-suffering soul! All of this insanity is apparently the price we have to pay for a "democratic" encyclopedia. I have my doubts about it's utility. You can check my talk page re: this topic, which I posted at the Teahouse. I have been working on a new submission, the biography of a living composer, for about 5 months now. I made all the changes suggested by the first 2 editors, which were very helpful. I resubmitted and was waiting patiently for a review. On April 5, I learned that the submission had been declined for a third time, but this time by a high school student with zippo experience who merely slapped on the "notability guidelines" box. I sent pleas off to some other editors and it may yet be saved. I don't know.

With respect to the article on poodles, is it just me, or is the header picture weird? I personally think it's an insulting photo for the breed. "Here, read about poodles; they're lunatics." It's a disgrace to represent arguably the most intelligent and sensible breed of dog with a photo like Scooby Doo.

Good luck with your repair endeavors...you suffer fools admirably! Final4one (talk) 14:46, 7 April 2013 (UTC)

EOTW

Hey Sagaciousphil, a month and a half ago I saw your edits and thought you'd be a great candidate for Editor of the Week. I was busy at the time (and have been for a long time since), but finally had some time and was going to nominate you. To my pleasant surprise, you had already received the award. Congratulations and thank you so much for all of your hard work! Ryan Vesey 05:14, 7 April 2013 (UTC)

Hi Ryan, thanks for dropping by and how lovely of you to say that! It still gives me 'goose bumps' and makes me smile to think about how wonderful it was to be nominated, let alone awarded EoTW! SagaciousPhil - Chat 09:09, 7 April 2013 (UTC)
