Captain Jack Sparrow is a main character in the film Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl and was played by Johnny Depp.
Jack Sparrow is a pirate. He used to command the Black Pearl, searching for a legendary cache of Aztec gold - but his crew mutinied and marooned him on an island, alongside a gun with a single bullet (in order to kill himself instead of letting starvation kill him). However he escaped, and went looking for revenge against the leader of the mutiny: First Mate (now Captain) Barbossa. He kept the gun and bullet for the purpose of shooting Barbossa with them.
One of his characteristic attributes is a slightly drunken walk (more of a stagger, accompanied by very random flailing hand gestures) which makes him look unfocused -- that may partially be a ploy to put people off their guard but may also be partly attributed to the heat stroke he may have suffered when marooned.
Another characteristic of his is a quite atypical (for a pirate) altruistic nature, as he often puts himself in harm's way to save other people, notably Elizabeth Swann.
