Cyril Lignac (born 5 in Rodez, Aveyron) is a French chef.

He is owner and chef of the gourmet restaurant Le Quinzième (1 Michelin star), also of Le Chardenoux, one of the last true Parisian bistros located in the ], another bistro located in the famed Saint-Germain des Près district: Le Chardenoux des Prés and La Pâtisserie Cyril Lignac located in the ]. Since 2010, his workshop Cuisine Attitude located in the ] welcomes both novices, budding amateurs and experts for cooking and pastry classes, as well as for special events. Chef Lignac is also TV presenter for culinary programs on the French television channel M6, and signed a series of more than 40 cook books which sold over 3 million copies.

Biography

Apprenticeship

After an apprenticeship in his native region of Aveyron in South Western France, Cyril Lignac made his way to Paris in 2000 to work in the kitchen of « L’Arpège », the famed restaurant of Chef Alain Passard. He continued to hone his skills alongside top chefs, namely the Jacques et Laurent Pourcel at « La Maison Blanche » and « Le Jardin des Sens ». At their side, he discovered the pleasure to improvise and his passion for this trade was asserting progressively. As a product lover and naturally gourmet, he expressed the wish to share his know-how with a large audience with authenticity and simplicity via TV programmes and cookbooks.

Installation in Paris

In 2005, he opened his own gourmet restaurant Le Quinzième in Paris.

In 2008, he made history when he took over the Parisian bistro Le Chardenoux, listed historical monument. His menu gave a new pride of place to French specialties, enhancing them with fresh meaning, thanks to the chef’s own modern touches.

In 2010, he decided to transmit his know-how to an ever wider audience and opened the cooking workshop Cuisine Attitude.

In 2011, he brought the Chardenoux bistro concept to a new venue in the ever so Parisian Saint-Germain des Prés when he took over the legendary Claude Sainlouis renaming it Le Chardenoux des Prés.

That same year, Cyril Lignac went into a new project and opened with Benoît Couvrand "La Pâtisserie Cyril Lignac in Paris.

He received his first Michelin Guide Michelin star the 27th of February, 2012, for his gourmet restaurant Le Quinzième.

TV programs

Cyril Lignac was spotted by the producer Bibiane Godfroid, which bought the rights of the show Jamie's Kitchen by Jamie Oliver and broadcast on Channel 4. He became a media figure by participating in several programs broadcast on M6 channel:

He voices the character of Lalo in the French version of the Pixar animation movie, Ratatouille, released in 2007 and which story deals with the gastronomie parisienne.

Publications

Cyril Lignac signed fortyish cookbooks, including Génération Chef, Cuisine Attitude, or Le Chardenoux, edited by Hachette Pratique. At spring 2012, he signed a Best of in collabration with Alain Ducasse edition and in September 2012 Le Chardenoux des Près. La cuisine de mon bistrot with Hachette (Template:Nombre). From 2007 to 2011, he was editorial adviser for the bimonthly magazine Cuisine by Cyril Lignac, published by Paper Box.

Community involvement

In 2008, Cyril Lignac was chosen to support « Un fruit pour la récré » by the French ministry of Agriculture, a program of free fruits distribution in schools.

Distinctions

The 11th of May, 2009, Michel Barnier gave him the title of Chevalier of National Order of Agricultural Merit.

In 2012, Cyril Lignac received his first Michelin star for his gourmet restaurant Le Quinzième. At the same time, GQ Magazine recognized his entrepreneurial spirit and his talent for sharing simple pleasures when they named him “Chef of the Year”.
