Great Neck South High School also known as "GNS" is a public secondary school located in Great Neck, New York, United States, as part of the Great Neck School District. As of 2006, the school principal is Randolph H. Ross. The assistant principals are Sharon Applebaum and John Duggan.

Great Neck South was rated the 31st best school in Newsweek Magazine's recent listing of "America's Best High Schools" in the May 8, 2006 issue, with each senior averaging 4.321 Advanced Placement courses. Despite such high rank, the school has faced criticisms for its decrease in ranking, having been listed at 17th and 24th in 2003 and 2004, respectively.

Extracurricular activities

Due to the lack of participants, Great Neck South cancelled its varsity football program for the 2005 season. However, the junior varsity team remained intact, which was composed of underclassmen, coupled with several varsity-level juniors.
