Honored by the Detroit Historical Museum's exhibit "]: Detroit's Gift to the World", Eddie Fowlkes and three other cohorts were featured for originating Detroit Techno<ref>http://www.allmusic.com/artist/eddie-flashin-fowlkes-mn0000166483/biography</ref> music. The exhibit captured his over 25 years of experience in the music industry, stretching back to when he got his first mixer for Christmas in 1978. That mixer led him to understand the power that music could have on people. He was inducted into the Detroit Legends Plaza at the Detroit Historical Museum, where his handprints are forever set in cement. As Detroit techno became the subject of more interest from European DJs and producers, Eddie was the fabric of the German techno scene in 1992. The German label Tresor released their third 12' in 1992 by Eddie Fowlkes. The release was called 3MB with Moritz von Oswald and Thomas Feldmann. Eddie has recordings on Sony, BMG, Warner Brothers,Tresor, Azuli, P.I.A.S.(London) to name a few majors and independents. He has remixed/produced The Pet Shop Boys, Moby, Martha Wash, as well as countless European artists. In 2012, Resident Advisor did an exclusive on him titled "Eddie Fowlkes: The Belleville Fourth". Eddie "Flashin'" Fowlkes (b. 1962) is a techno DJ from Detroit, Michigan, influential to the early Detroit techno scene.
Fowlkes began his career as a DJ in high school, and attended business college briefly before turning full-time to a career in music. He was a DJ at Detroit's Music Institute, and released his first record, the single "Goodbye Kiss", for Juan Atkins's label, Metroplex Records, in 1986. Later singles followed on KMS Records, 430 West, and Play it Again Sam, before his debut full-length appeared in 1991.
As Detroit techno became the subject of more interest from European DJs and producers, Fowlkes signed with German label Tresor, with whom he released several full-length albums. His only charting single in the U.S. was "Let Us Pray", which hit #21 on the U.S. Dance Club Play charts in 1995. Eddie is responsible, at least in part, for the techno act The Martian.
Eddie has two kids. Tia and Zoe.
