However, the contract was soon to be cancelled due to Kapoor decision to transition elsewhere and sign her next film with Mahesh Bhatt's forAashiqui 2. She starred in Y-Films's venture, Luv Ka The End alongside newcomer Taaha Shah. Of her role and this film, Kapoor stated: "I play a character name Rhea Dialdas who is very feminine, quirky, all in all a typical teenage girl but one with a vindictive dark side when she found out what her boyfriend been really up to. It's a passtime chick-flick, So I feel in someways most of the burden to carry this film forward lies a lot on me but I just hope I make it worth it to watch." Despite the film's poor performance at the box office, Kapoor's performance attracted generally positive reviews. Rachana of Glamsham Editorial wrote, "Shraddha Kapoor clearly steals the show and it's her performance which lights up the film. She is the star of the film." Kapoor was also awarded Stardust Searchlight Award For Best Actress for the film.

2013–Present

In 2013, Kapoor starred in Aashiqui 2, a romantic musical drama film opposite Aditya Roy Kapur. Her character in the film, Arohi Shirke, is a small-town bar singer who later becomes a successful playback artiste. The film received a positive to mixed critical reception. Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama stated, ' Shraddha also gets to sink her teeth into this challenging character and the attractive youngster is simply amazing, more so towards the demanding moments in the second hour. Furthermore, the chemistry between Aditya and Shraddha is incredible, which also proves yet again that the right casting can work wonders.'

Kapoor will feature in the upcoming Gori Tere Pyaar Mein which is directed by Punit Malhotra. She is also confirmed to be the leading lady in Ekta Kapoor's The Villain opposite Sidharth Malhotra.

Kapoor shares a close bond with her family and friends. Kapoor has revealed countless times that she is a die-hard hopeless romantic, Stating,"I believe that love should be something mad and full of pagalpan. It should not be kaam chalau. A lot of things in life today are like that. Love should not be one of them. It should be mad or should not be there." Kapoor even went on to confess that "Well, it’s not like it’s in fine print but I am a very emotional soul — I fall for romance easily, sometimes maybe too easily. I believe in bonds that last. I personally feel it’s very hard to find true love or even understand what it is. From what I see and hear around me, there are so many divorces and separations. I just wish it wasn’t like that, but there’s nothing I can do about it. I think I'll always be a hopeless romantic, I just hope, dream and pray I found the right soul mate someday". There have been numerous reports regarding her dating life, however, she has never confirmed to any of them.

During the filming of Kapoor's film, Aashiqui 2 it was widely speculated that she was in a romantic relationship with co-star Aditya Roy Kapoor. However, it was denied by both the actors. Kapoor stated "Aditya and I got comfortable with each other... Off screen, we have become good friends and somewhere that has translated on the screen as well. That is wonderful."

Later pictures of Kapoor and actor Varun Dhawan surfaces, when they were both having dinner together. Although it appeared as though they were in a relationship, it was later confirmed by Varun Dhawan that the two were merely childhood friends..

In 2013, Grazia asked about her relationship status, Kapoor stated "Currently, I am single, I’ve never been in a serious relationship. The whole idea of having a companion for life sounds like the best thing in the world. I think people who have found it are very lucky. I wouldn’t say I’m looking for love, but I wouldn’t mind if love surprises me." “It was liberating to travel alone this year, and I see a lot of that coming! I was thinking about it on my trip – the whole idea of sharing your life with someone, it’s so rare nowadays, na? Everyone thinks they want more, even marriage is not enough. That sort of commitment is not enough. How will you make it last?” For Delhi Couture Week 2013, Kapoor attented her favorite designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee's show to show her support then during the event the designer stated: "Shraddha Kapoor is gen next muse." Fashion critics has also given her compliments on her minimalist style and her Marathi style.

Hence, she had refused to work with leading actors such as John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan. She was later denied about it on her social networking site.

I read a story that appeared in a tabloid today. I must clarify that there is no truth in this. I would absolutely love to work with AB. It's upon my director to decide who will be my co-star. Where is the question of me deciding to work with my co-stars?.
