A house in its most general sense is a human erected structure, consisting of enclosing walls and having a roof. A house generally have at least one entrance, usually in the form of a door or a portal, and may have any number of windows.

Houses have been used as living quarters for humans since prehistoric times, and construction materials, styles and methods of construction have varied wildly over time.

House also refers to a subgenre of electronic music; see house music.
