No bother whatsoever

The MO of that anon vandal seems similar to Bambifan, but that IP resolves to Michigan. Bambi does the majority of his nonsense from Alabama. However, if you even so much as think you smell this guy, please let me know. His destruction and damage is nearly incaluculable. Thanks for letting me know and believe me, asking about something like this is not a bother.  :) --PMDrive1061 (talk) 15:41, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

For my talk page watchers

Hello all. I just wanted to wish those of you who are Doctor Who watchers the very happiest of anniversary weeks. 30 years ago was a great deal of fun. Today's worldwide popularity of the show combined with the net allowing us to share our fandom with people far and wide is quite remarkable. It has been a pleasure to work on WikiP's Dr Who articles with you and to share the excitement over events in the current series over the last eight years. Cheers MarnetteD | Talk 04:48, 19 November 2013 (UTC)

Back part time

I will hopefully be gradually editing a bit more over the next few months. A combination of work and personal issues hit back in March, and just did not seem to let up, including the flood (they finally opened our road down to the flatlands a couple of weeks ago). We'll see. I still feel like I'm just digging out of a big hole, but miss editing here. Don Lammers (talk) 17:07, 28 November 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the message. I was worried that you might have been in the flood zone. I do hope that things have gotten somewhere close to normal and I am glad that you are back to editing here. Stay well and Happy Thanksgiving. Cheers. MarnetteD | Talk 17:44, 28 November 2013 (UTC)

question about template-tagging other people

Hello Marnette... but, by the noodly appendage!  :-)   This didn't seem fair to me.

Not knowing the situation, though, maybe they are mentioned in one of your long-term-abuse threads, which I notice in talkpage sections above? In particular, the tag was placed without signing that it was you. I assumed that I would see some hidden-sinebot-like-message in the wiki markup, but there was nothing, so I had to scruffle back through the edit-history of the page. If it had been signed MarnetteD, it would not have creeped me out as much -- did you just forget the tildes when you tagged? Danke for your time. p.s. You can reply here if you like, but if I do not respond promptly, please drop a note on my talkpage. 74.192.84.101 (talk) 22:20, 9 December 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for your message. It is common practice to add that tag, on any talk page, when someone, Username or IP, makes a comment. There are numerous reasons for this but the main one is to alert any admins who look at things to not have to waste time to look up this up. I usually sign these but forgot to do so in this situation. It should be noted that signing them is not required. MarnetteD | Talk 21:53, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

Tireless and tiresome

The Invisible Barnstar
Michael,
For all your tireless work in the background, particularly in removing non-sourced additions and vandalism from BLPs.
When I see your name on the history, I know that is one mess that I shall not need to clean up!
I do hope your tiresome visitor has left for good.— | Gareth Griffith-Jones |The WelshBuzzard| — 21:29, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
Thanks GG-J. The same, of course, applies to you!! I hope that the calendar is still bringing fun to your day. Thanks again this is much appreciated. Cheers. MarnetteD | Talk 21:55, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
It certainly is — and so much content, all wonderfully presented. All the best! — | Gareth Griffith-Jones |The WelshBuzzard| — 22:04, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

your technique

Nothing else can be done it would seem

if you are to take umbrage with uncited material, then you must remove it all, to just remove the most recently added is lazy technique — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.170.101.218 (talk) 03:41, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

The WP:BURDEN is on the person that adds the info to provide a WP:RS. The laziness would seem to be all yours. MarnetteD | Talk 05:10, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
you removed my contribution because it was unsourced, that was the reason you gave did you not? and are ten unsourced names not still on the page after you removed a measly one? how is only removing one not being lazy?
if the other names had been sourced, then i would have cited my contribution, but again it seemed out of place as none of the other names are sourced — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.170.101.218 (talk) 05:24, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
What might or might not already be on the page does not absolve you of having to provide a source, as stated above, for your addition. Next, please read WP:OTHERSTUFF I am under no obligation to edit in a manner that you demand. I suggest that you try the WP:TUTORIAL. MarnetteD | Talk 06:03, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

but how can you honestly claim to care about deleting unsourced material then only delete one new addition, leaving ten equally unsourced additions in tact? where lies the logic in that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.170.101.218 (talk) 06:22, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

And this from someone who can't be bothered to a) learn to sign their posts; b) learn simple indentation procedures and; c) LEARN TO USE CAPITALS where grammar requires. I'd be very careful about calling anyone lazy given what you've shown us of your standards here, 86.170. Pfft! --Drmargi (talk) 06:12, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
Thanks DM. I am closing this down now as I can't see that anything else can be accomplished. Cheers. MarnetteD | Talk 18:16, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

Very good news indeed. Consistency can only help and it will give him a chance to develop some of the young talent that was on the pitch in the Tonga match. Thanks for sharing it. MarnetteD | Talk 22:09, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
Just finished watching the last episode of series II of Ripper Street. Outstanding. Cannot accept that there is not to be any more. Apparently the cast are "gutted"!
It has been riveting. I must get hold of the first series! Big thank you to you again for alerting me to the start of this series. — | Gareth Griffith-Jones |The WelshBuzzard| — 22:23, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
I sympathize with the cast and crew. It is one of those series where you can tell that they put their heats into it. The powers that be just gave us a big lump of coal :-( MarnetteD | Talk 16:12, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

Problem Edits

Hi! Your Burton-on-Trent editor seems to have returned with a different IP address. I noticed because of this edit, which matched the earlier edits he was making. I've already reverted some of his troublesome edits, mostly involving changing the ledes to films I'm familiar with to grammatically incorrect or less well-written versions. It looks like he's actively editing today. Thought you'd want to know, and might want to follow up with Drmies. Grandpallama (talk) 17:21, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the update. This might be him but two things are giving me pause. The address locates to London - now it could still be him but this would be the first time of being that far south. The editing of wrestling articles is not part of the his editing pattern - at least recently. I'll keep an eye on things and report to the proper spot if necessary. In the meantime - and since it might be someone else - please feel free to post warnings on their talk page. Thanks again and your vigilance is much appreciated!! MarnetteD | Talk 18:54, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
Maybe. But the movie editing focused on the ledes, (changing the categories of the films, making the years possessives, changing spellings of Asian actors, etc.) looks like pretty clear quacking to me. Grandpallama (talk) 19:35, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
Sounds good. Nothing wrong with going with your gut feeling. Feel free to post your suspicions on Drmies talk page at any time. You don't have to go through me. Especially at this time of year. My editing time is going to be limited over the next ten days or so and I would hate for our articles to be messed up just because I am not onwiki. Good to be working with you in this situation. Cheers. MarnetteD | Talk 22:16, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
Geolocation of IP addresses in the UK is notoriously inaccurate. It's worst for the larger broadband suppliers; those who provide dynamic IP addresses can be particularly bad. My own normally geolocates to 51°30′00″N 0°07′48″W / 51.50000°N 0.13000°W / 51.50000; -0.13000 which is off by about 50 miles. There's a vandal known to WikiProject UK Railways whose geolocation moves around, and normally seems to fall on random points scattered within two separate circles each about 25 miles in diameter. --Redrose64 (talk) 00:20, 19 December 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for cluing me in Redrose. In this particular case 3-4 years of dealing with this person had always located to Burton-(up)on-Trent. But as this person discovered that we were on to him/her it wouldn't surprise me at all that they would try to throw us off the scent. I always appreciate your educating me on the ins and outs of the technology. Your time and efforts are appreciated. MarnetteD | Talk 00:40, 19 December 2013 (UTC)

The Graham Norton Show

Hi M,
I know you get The Graham Norton Show on BBC America. Yesterday's show included Miranda Hart, who we have talked about in the recent past, so if you have not yet actually seen her, she was on top form last night.
Sadly, the rest of the show was not great. All the best, — | Gareth Griffith-Jones |The WelshBuzzard| — 21:18, 21 December 2013 (UTC)

Hi G. Thanks for letting me know. I've been watching the show for several years now and she has been a guest two or three times before (at least) and I've always enjoyed seeing her. So I am glad to know she will be on again. BBCA is usually a week or so behind so we won't get this ep until after Xmas. In some ways I preferred GN's show before it was moved to BBC1. Fewer guests gave them more time to get to know one another and I also liked when there was more audience interaction. Now they have so many people on the couch that some of them seem superflous - see Jeremy Clarkson's appearance a few weeks ago. I am going to be watching my Rowan Atkinson Xmas triple bill later tonight. I'll be seeing Blackadder's Christmas Carol, "Merry Christmas, Mr. Bean" and Bernard and the Genie. I know the last one isn't available to you on DVD. I will keep my fingers crossed that it shows up on cable or some "video streaming" website for you one day. Cheers and best holiday wishes to you. MarnetteD | Talk 22:07, 21 December 2013 (UTC)
… and the same wishes to you from me. I agree with your criticism. On a positive note … not long to go for The Doctor's Christmas special … I am really looking forward to that. Going back to the latest The Graham Norton Show, and the content about "Strictly", it was the wrong result tonight in the final. The voting public took no notice of the four judges who were unanimous that Natalie Gumede is by far the best, and I agree totally. Ah well.
Cheers! — | Gareth Griffith-Jones |The WelshBuzzard| — 22:27, 21 December 2013 (UTC)

Christmas lunch

I read the UK Christmas lunch section and felt it was poorly written, badly referenced and not particularly informative. In short it needs a revision. Rather than removing my hard work, none of which was contentious why not contribute. You even removed my Dicken's reference that was there toclarify a misleading statement. Incidentally ,I don't recall ever having had carrots with my Christmas meal but then to my recollection my family have always had a goose for our Christmas lunch so I don't know much about turkey at all. Happy Xmas

  • Great stuff I am still smiling. I am getting ready to watch Scrooge (1970 film). I know it is not considered among the best but I am a big fan of nearly all the actors - for instance getting to see a young svelte, singing and dancing Anton Rodgers is a treat. They also manage to slip a line about coffin nails and that is one of my favorite items in Dickens' book. We don't get tomorrows Dr Who ep until 19:00 our time so I may have to skip editing for several hours to avoid "spoilers" - I'll never be able to read or hear that word without thinking of Alex Kingston. A pleasant thought indeed. Have a most wonderful Xmas GG-J!!! MarnetteD | Talk 02:29, 25 December 2013 (UTC)

Don't be sorry! I've been there :) I generally don't "block" without discussing it with others, but this was too obvious. Thanks for your contributions - and I am sorry *you* are dealing with this! If I can help let me know! SarahStierch (talk) 06:16, 25 December 2013 (UTC)
Many thanks for your reply. If you haven't already done so could you please keep my talk page on your watchlist for awhile? It would be appreciated. Merry, Merry Christmas and a Happy Doctor Who!

Are we ready? In the meantime, have a very happy Christmas day, and enjoy family and friends. As always, the e-card was gorgeous. I saved it until this morning, and as coincidence would have it, my Christmas pin for this year is a cardinal sitting on a holly branch. You are such a dear! --Drmargi (talk) 19:09, 25 December 2013 (UTC)

What a nice coincidence! Since the special is about to air in the UK I am about to log off to avoid spoilers. I am also going to DVR the Matt Smith goodbye special and watch it after the episode. Yuletide cheers!!! MarnetteD | Talk 19:11, 25 December 2013 (UTC)

Dr Who

Hi. I've reverted what you did on Doctor Who, and I just want to explain why. I added two cites needed tags to a note, not a reference, for the following reasons;

The note claims that "Vincent Terrace erroneously credit Terry Nation with creating Doctor Who, because of the way his name is credited in the two Peter Cushing films", yet offers no cite to back this up. A mention of the The Complete Encyclopedia of Television Programs 1947–1979 book itself does not suffice.

The note also claims "Newman and Lambert's role in originating the series was recognised in the 2007 episode "Human Nature". Again, nothing is given to back this claim up, and the linked article (Human Nature) is equally unsourced, so all we are left with an unidentified someone's speculative guess.

Hope this explains. --Escape Orbit 22:18, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

In neither case is it OR. The mention of the "Encyclopedia" does suffice. As to the second item it is mentioned in both Dr Who Confidential and on the DVD set extras which includes the story, as well as several other places.
