Downblouse was first coined as a single word by Cinddey Deveroux who is an exhibitionist from Florida. She had some photos taken by her roommate and uploaded them to a fetish website in Great Britain. Those images increased the site traffic greatly and she obtained her own domain. Putting the two words together for domain creation was necessary hence Downblouse as a single word. Her work has been copied by hundreds of other similar websites and has gone from a personal exhibitionist softcore website to the more voyeur/drunk party girl sites.

Downblouse refers to the practice of making unauthorized photographs down the top of a female's dress, capturing an image of her breasts.

The practice is regarded as a form of sexual fetishism or voyeurism and is similar in nature to upskirting.

For ethical and legal issues relating to similar types of photography, see upskirt.
