New section! Did I make a mistake? Did I revert something that shouldn't have been reverted? Did I mess up otherwise?
Nobody is perfect. As a matter of fact, I am at the furthest end of being perfect. Please, tell me if I did something wrong!

Kyiv Naming Change

Hi there,

I see that the change I made yesterday had been reverted. I found this page with the discussion on the topic - https://en.wikipedia.org/Talk:Kiev/naming. The discussion has been closed and archived and I was wondering if it were possible to reopen it. The argument from the side opposing the change seems to be that "Kiev" is still a more commonly used name (despite the fact that all official US and Canadian documents now say "Kyiv"). To prove it they use the number of Google hits on either word. What they fail to understand is that a lot of people use Misplaced Pages when they are trying to find out the correct spelling of the word, so it ends up being a vicious cycle: the Wiki won't change the name until people start using the new one, and the people won't start using the new one until the Wiki changes it. Not to mention that Google underlines "Kyiv" as a grammatical error and corrects it to "Kiev" (I don't know whether this has anything to do with one of the Google founders being from Moscow). For a lot of Ukrainians it is important to set their country apart from Russia, which has dominated Ukraine for centuries both politically and culturally, as well as has done everything it could to suppress the Ukrainian language. Not to mention, that writing the name of the Ukrainian capital in English using Russian transliteration is downright offensive to those who have been trying to revive the Ukrainian culture and establish it as an independent entity. Independent specifically from Russia.

Thanks much, Valentine Azbelle. (born and raised in Kyiv) Azzzy (talk) 01:05, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

Hello @Azzzy. To re-open discussion on the subject, I'd recommend you just start a new section on Talk:Kiev. Make sure you have familiarized yourself with the past discussions and their arguments on both, the talk page itself and the special subpage created for the discussion. Then, explain in your new post why you think the previously reached consensus should be overturned. Regarding those other things: You have to remember, Misplaced Pages is not a dictionary, and can't be blamed for people using it as such. ~ | twsx | cont | ~ 08:18, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

EVotoCloud

— Preceding unsigned comment added by 37.11.140.23 (talk) 12:42, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

English Translation by Google Translate: Hello I am Sergio Avila, sorry but I think the entry is correct because it provides a system of electronic voting. If you really think that they have nothing to do with the electronic voting definitely removes the entry, if you think otherwise, please add it as a link.

Hello @37.11.140.23. Whether the link you added is fitting the subject or not is, in this case, irrelevant. The website you added seems to be not-notable according to Misplaced Pages's notability guidelines. As such, your addition is considered to be spam. ~ | twsx | cont | ~ 12:48, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for your support. I'm off to "open my head" now. :-) Deb (talk) 12:55, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

Anytime! Hah, yes, always good to have an open head... I think. ~ | twsx | cont | ~ 12:57, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

About Prouds

Hi Twsx. Good WP:CSD tag there - it would have been a WP:G11 candidate until it was re-directed. I can a vouch for the company - it's a very well known Australian jewelry retailer. It would appear to me that 59.101.86.14 and Pidzz are making edits in good faith though some of the edits are sailing very close to the wind. Please feel free to ping me if you have any questions. Pete AU aka --Shirt58 (talk) 10:43, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

Hi @Shirt58. Fair enough! The article it now redirects to is obviously well referenced, so it all turned out well in the end. Thanks for the notice. ~ | twsx | cont | ~ 10:49, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

More to Review

Thanks for reviewing Maurice Martin's page. Now it is Akihito Nakamura, check? Remember, these 2 articles are made only because both played major role in Japanese invasion of French Indochina. OccultZone (talk) 12:10, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

Hello @OccultZone. I've set Akihito Nakamura as patrolled as well now. Be aware, however, that this is a routine process done when patrolling newly created pages and does not necessarily constitute a thorough reflection on the content, nor is it any form of administrative decision. :) Cheers ~ | twsx | cont | ~ 12:14, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
True. But some of my pages took like, 1 month+ for a review. So I thought of getting done with this process right now! Thanks :) OccultZone (talk) 12:15, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
@OccultZone: I wouldn't worry about that too much! Even if your page is not yet set as patrolled, it is still visible for everyone. There is no difference really, the only point is that the article is set as "still to be checked for possible vandalism", which is obviously not the case here. ~ | twsx | cont | ~ 12:17, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
Indeed. I will just add more reliable sources to the page. Case closed :) OccultZone (talk) 12:34, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

I have unreviewed a page you curated

Hi, I'm Wikiuser13. I wanted to let you know that I saw the page you reviewed, Selfie panorama, and have un-reviewed it again. If you have any questions, please ask them on my talk page. Thank you. Wikiuser13 (talk | contribs) 12:55, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

Hello @Wikiuser13. Most editing and anti-Vandalism aids (such as, in my case, Huggle and Twinkle) automatically patrol pages when certain actions – such as marking for speedy deletion – are performed. Just so you know. :) ~ | twsx | cont | ~ 13:04, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

Tagging of Christopher Amoroso

I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Christopher Amoroso. I do not think that 'Christopher Amoroso' fits any of the speedy deletion criteria  because "His final hours were portrayed in the Oliver Stone movie World Trade Center" is a cliam of significance. I request that you consider not re-tagging 'Christopher Amoroso' for speedy deletion without discussing the matter on the appropriate talk page. This may not be enough to justify an article at a deletion discussion, that will depend on refs, but it takes it out of the A7 speedy zone. DES 18:14, 6 February 2014 (UTC)

Exactly the same reasoning applies to Antonio Rodrigues (9/11 officer). DES 19:05, 6 February 2014 (UTC)
Hi. Don't worry. I may tag articles very boldly, but I don't re-tag articles unless I can't AGF. I have tagged Antonio Rodrigues (9/11 officer) with a BLPPROD instead, however. Cheers. ~ | twsx | cont | ~ 07:47, 7 February 2014 (UTC)
